Chicago Bears Team Preview 25/26

  • The 2024 Chicago Bears had everything going for them last season. General manager Ryan Poles had a fantastic offseason, bringing in the number one overall pick, a USC  quarterback, Caleb Williams, along with running mates in a wide receiver out of Washington, Rome Odunze, and A veteran presence in Keenan Allen in a trade for only a fourth round selection and running back D’Andre Swift in free agency.  Ultimately, that excitement turned to absolute heartbreak, beginning with a Week 8 15-13 Hail Mary loss to the Washington Commanders and a Thanksgiving cataclysmic final minute against the Detroit Lions, 23-20. That loss led to the First midseason head coaching change in Chicago Bears history as Matt Eberflus was let go after an abysmal 14-32 during his tenure.  From that week 8 game on, the Bears only managed to win one game, leading to the offseason hire of Ben Johnson. The Lions then went on to unforeseen heights, becoming the first team in NFL history to have two running backs and two wide receivers eclipse the 1,000-yard mark. With Ben Johnson walking into the building, there is a sense of newly more respectable optimism as this team ushers in a new era. Keenan Allen, at the time of writing, is still a free agent, but in comes talented rookies Colston Loveland and Luther Burden III, who joined this very interesting and very exciting offensive team.  We would also be remiss if we didn’t mention a new offensive line along with DJ Moore and Cole Kmet, who are both looking for bounce-back seasons. A lot will certainly be said of the chemistry Caleb Williams can achieve with this offense, particularly as Ben Johnson is one of the better offensive Minds in the NFL..

Player most likely to beat ADP: D’Andre Swift (ADP 61, RB23)

D’Andre Swift fantasy lows are definitely somewhat frustrating, but the highs are way too intriguing to just simply ignore, particularly in a low-end RB2/flex situation. This area becomes highly advantageous even if he’s just a rotational player on your roster in the flex spot.  More than likely, with Ben Johnson’s new offense, he can be a guy you can actually trust weekly, particularly at this ADP.

Player most likely to fade based on ADP: DJ Moore (ADP 37, WR17)

The reality is that DJ Moore may be the least advantageous player to take around this range, as you have Jaxon-Smith Njigba, Mike Evans, and Terry McLaurin Around this range and with a bunch of new receiving talent in Chicago it might be best to take the guaranteed WR1s  around this range rather than dealing with the potential of DJ Moore being that type of player this season.

Late-round Flier that could blow up: Colston Loveland (ADp 183, TE17)

A gigantic part of Colston Loveland’s current ADP is the expectation that he’ll be more of a blocking tight end in this new age Chicago Bears offense.  But that doesn’t mean that throughout training camp and in the preseason, the Bears could find a more intriguing role for him as a pass catcher. If that’s the case, he can certainly blast through this current ADP and even be a tight end that everyone is excited for going into 2026. If 2025 becomes advantageous, that alone makes him an interesting guy to target in this current draft season.
