First of all, happy holidays to everyone!
The NBA Cup is over and with the NFL Fantasy season ending this week, we’re are going to be kicking into high gear the rest of the way when it comes to basketball. This is the time when everyone else in your league may still not be fully focused yet though, so it’s as good a time as ever to get out in front of things.
Double-Check Zone
All of these players should be on a roster, but Yahoo rostered percentages say otherwise. They likely aren’t available in competitive leagues but you should still pause and confirm with a quick look.
The Yahoo roster percentage is displayed in parentheses next to the player’s name.
Jeremy Sochan (65%)
Key Note(s): Starting again, continues to show improved offense and more stable stats.
Sochan is now a top-100 9-cat asset on the season driven by averages of 14.8 points, 8.3 boards, 1.1 steals and 0.7 blocks with positive FG% and passable albeit negative FT%. He is the least likely of anyone here to be available, but still isn’t rostered as much as he should be.
Tari Eason (40%)
Key Note(s): His level of play deserves patience through injuries.
Don’t get me wrong. I am worried that it is a “left lower leg injury management” listing which has him sidelined since it was a left lower leg injury that ended his 2023-24 season. However, Eason has built up enough good will as a mid-round 9-cat asset on a per-game basis so far for me to say remain patient and hold him, or scoop him up and stash him if he was dropped. He is also questionable at the time of writing and could be cleared to play by the time you’re reading this.
De’Andre Hunter (42%)
Key Note(s): 20.1 PPG and 2.7 3PG on the season make him a top-80 9-cat asset so far.
Hunter is definitely just a specialist, but you don’t find 20 PPG and almost three triples a game off the wire easily. I’m always one to point out his streakiness and I am distrustful of him maintaining this ROS, but we’re a few months in and it is mostly persisting so it’s enough to hold him through a couple stumbles.
Bilal Coulibaly (50%)
Key Note(s): Very diverse stat set aside from the FG% issues and recent injury
Coulibaly has since been cleared for a return, but his shooting woes may still drive off some managers from picking him up. He might have been dropped after missing Monday’s game in general and if you are punting FG%, he is a gem, but even if you aren’t, his statistical diversity has been enough for top-100 9-cat value so far.
Alexandre Sarr (44%)
Key Note(s): Averaging 1.8 BPG so far.
Like Bilal Coulibaly, Sarr may have been dropped after an absence on Monday. I’ll admit the percentages are nasty and the blocks are doing the heavy lifting, but he is a low-end version of a useful niche which is 3-pointers, blocks and boards. It is typically a good combination to have for fantasy. Sarr has also since been cleared to play on Thursday.
