There are two new kings atop the rankings this week, a new QB1 overall and a new weekly QB1 with our reigning king on bye.
Let’s go through the rankings for Week 7 as the fantasy season kicks into high gear.
Rank Player Team Opponent Notes 1 Jayden Daniels WAS DAL Wheels up! Dallas is allowing 26 PPG to QBs this year, which is a full three points more than any other defense. Start all your Commanders. 2 Patrick Mahomes KC LVR Mahomes, the QB1, has 11 more points than Josh Allen and 22 more points than any other QB. He’s had an incredible fantasy resurgence. 3 Dak Prescott DAL WAS I’ve had success targeting the same game this year, and this game has a 55-point total. Prescott (the QB3!) and Daniels are must starts. 4 Jalen Hurts PHI MIN Tough matchup for Hurts, but with how bad this Eagles offense is, I don’t know if it matters. He’s all rushing floor. 5 Drake Maye NE TEN Maye is simply a QB1 now, and there’s nothing gained by fading him against the NFL’s worst team. 6 Baker Mayfield TB DET This is the other 50-point total on the slate (52.5), and it’s exactly the kind of game Mayfield has crushed this year. The only question is if he has anyone to throw to. 7 Jared Goff DET TB Target the 50-point totals! Goff has ripped in these back and forth battles. He’s definitely a QB1 this week, especially with all of Tampa’s injuries. 8 Justin Herbert LAC IND He’s the QB8, and this is the highest total after the 50-point games. Indy’s secondary is also depleted. 9 Caleb Williams CHI NO Williams is tied for 7th in QB PPG, and this matchup is a matter of how many drives they let him finish. 10 Daniel Jones IND LAC Chargers D gives me pause, but this should be a high-scoring game, and Jones has solidified himself as backend QB1. 11 Bo Nix DEN NYG There’s a big drop after the Top 10 this week. Nix is QB13 even after last week’s London disaster. He’s a classic bad QB who scores fantasy points. 12 Jordan Love GB ARI Love is in the tier of QBs right on the QB1 borderline with 18 PPG so far. Arizona is really not a good football team. I’d trust him as my last QB1 over the next few. 13 Justin Fields NYJ CAR No Garrett Wilson this week, meaning you have to have nerves of steel to trust Fields, even in a great matchup. God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers. 14 Matthew Stafford LAR JAC Don’t love this matchup, and I’m worried Stafford’s pocket passing takes a hit without Puka Nacua. He’s still the QB10 this year, though. 15 Aaron Rodgers PIT CIN Maybe this is crazy, but Rodgers is my favorite streamer this week against Cincy, who are one of the worst defenses in the league. He goes way over his 16-point average this week. 16 Sam Darnold SEA HOU Darnold is up to QB11, but this is a tough matchup with Houston coming off a bye. It would be wheels up after the past two weeks if the defense were softer. 17 Trevor Lawrence JAC LAR Bad matchup makes this a trickier proposition, but back-to-back good weeks have Lawrence up to QB14. Liam Cohen is starting to unlock him. 18 Spencer Rattler NO CHI Rattler’s been quietly a solid QB2, and the Bears are an upgrade matchup for him. He’s a sneaky good stream. 19 Jaxson Dart NYG DEN Dart has excelled as a starter so far, but this Denver matchup might be the very worst on the board for a QB (it’s the 2nd-worst statistically), especially an inexperienced one. He’s a stay away this week. 20 Bryce Young CAR NYJ Young excelled in the easiest matchup there is last week. Can he punish the only winless team? It makes me nervous to trust him. 21 C.J. Stroud HOU SEA The Seahawks were all over the Jags’ o-line in Week 6, and Houston has the worst line in the league. This could be a brutal night for Stroud if Seattle gets home. 22 Michael Penix ATL SF Big drop off to a QB whom I THINK should be good, but simply hasn’t been since Week 1. Is the Fred Warner-less Niners D suddenly a great matchup? We shall see. 23 Tua Tagovailoa MIA CLE Tua against the Browns sounds utterly gross, but we’re really scraping the barrel here. Hopefully you don’t need anything this far down. 24 Geno Smith LVR KC Geno’s arguably been the worst starting QB in the league. Perhaps this is a higher-scoring game he can exploit? He needs Brock Bowers back and won’t get him this week. 25 Dillon Gabriel CLE MIA i don’t respect Gabriel as a QB yet. It’s possible he scores a decent amount through volume, but he’s just not consistent enough yet to warrant a good matchup stream. 26 Jacoby Brissett ARI GB Brissett looked shockingly competent in Week 6, and he appears set to go again in Week 7. Maybe he turns back into a pumpkin, but the volume should be decent. 27 Joe Flacco CIN PIT Really would’ve liked to see Flacco get a full week of practice with the Bengals. He’s just gotta sling it and hope. Maybe he’s a decent stream in a better matchup closer to November. 28 Cam Ward TEN NE It’s kind of a big week for Ward to show his fired coach was holding him back. Thus far, it’s been one of the worst rookie starting QBs we’ve ever seen for fantasy. 29 Carson Wentz MIN PHI Early practice reports lean toward Wentz starting, but that Philly matchup doesn’t interest me in the slightest. 30 Brock Purdy SF ATL Not sure if Purdy goes, and ATL has been a bottom five fantasy defense for opposing QB scoring. Couldn’t imagine wanting to start him even if he makes it back. 31* Mac Jones SF ATL Since it’s trending toward Purdy, I moved Jones out of the starter group. I’d be slightly more interested in Jones if he plays, in the Tua/Smith range. 32* Kyler Murray ARI GB Murray doesn’t seem likely to play. If he does, I’d swap him directly with Brissett. 33* J.J. McCarthy MIN PHI McCarthy doesn’t appeal to me whatsoever, even if he returns this week. I’d rank him with Ward.
