It’s the first week without bye weeks in more than two months, and we’ve had a clear tier emerge at the top of the QB position.
Josh Allen, Drake Maye, Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts are pacing the position in overall scoring. Joining them, Lamar Jackson, who had elite points per game before this recent injury-impacted stretch, has one week left to prove he belongs. And, how could I snub the uber-consistent, effortless season Matthew Stafford has had?
Who else is worth starting this week? Check out the Week 13 rankings below.

Premium Access RequiredPlayer Team Opponent Notes 1 Jalen Hurts PHI CHI Hurts gets a soft matchup coming off of his best fantasy game of the season. He’s a total smash in this Black Friday game. 2 Patrick Mahomes KC DAL Dallas remains the very best defense to start a QB against, and Mahomes remains the QB3, despite a recent slow down. I’m a bit concerned about the health of his weapons. 3 Josh Allen BUF PIT Allen got put in jail by the 32/23 QB scoring defense in Houston last week. This is a much softer matchup, but like Mahomes, I have significant concerns about who he’s throwing to. 4 Lamar Jackson BAL CIN I’d move Jackson to the bottom of this top tier based on back-to-back bad performances, but the Cincy matchup is a huge boost. Maybe this will bring him back to the top. 5 Drake Maye NE NYG Maye was my QB1 last week and underwhelmed vs. the Bengals. In that game, he lost two key OL. The Giants offer a similarly soft matchup, but I want to wait and see a bit on his OL. 6 Matthew Stafford LAR CAR Stafford is the last of my top tier. This Rams offense is effortlessly carving up just about everyone, and Stafford and Davante Adams are on fire in the endzone, which eliminates the rushing upside issues.7 Justin Herbert LAC LVR Should be a cushy landing spot for Herbert out of the bye. Will be interesting to see if he pushes back toward the top tier or levels out in the back half of the QB1s. 8 Joe Burrow CIN BAL It’s hard to rank Burrow off of his injury layoff against a defense that is currently much better than its overall numbers. It should be a high-scoring game, so I’ll defer to easy QB1 status. 9 Dak Prescott DAL KC Such a great performance by Prescott against the tough Eagles D last week. He gets another challenge here, but another high total means he’s a comfortable QB1. 10 Jared Goff DET GB There are two Goffs contained within his QB11 season to date: one excels at home in the dome, the other struggles on the road in the elements. This week looks closer to the good version of Goff. 11 Bo Nix DEN WAS Absolute smash spot for Bo Nix off the bye. He scored a combined 20 points in the two weeks before the bye, but he has to crush the decimated Commanders, right? 12 Jacoby Brissett ARI TB Brissett has turned into a bankable QB1. He has been a QB1 in every one of his six straight starts. That shouldn’t change against Tampa, who has slipped to sixth-worst against QBs. 13 Caleb Williams CHI PHI Williams has been solid lately, but this is basically the first time he’s faced a legitimately good defense all season. I’m expecting significant regression down the stretch. 14 Sam Darnold SEA MIN A revenge game for Darnold, it will be interesting to see if the Brian Flores can cause some Rams-like chaos for him because of the familiarity. He’s a viable streamer with some risk. 15 Jordan Love GB DET The Lions defense is quickly sliding into the top tier that we’re targeting for QBs, but Love has 10 or fewer points in three of the past four games, with two total TD passes in that span. He’s a gamble this week.16 Jaxson Dart NYG NE I still don’t know if Dart will play, but this is good matchup if he does. If he does, will be interesting to see if interim HC Mike Kafka reigns him in a bit, limiting his upside. 17 Trevor Lawrence JAC TEN Lawrence has quietly been a QB1 in three of the past four weeks, with the only blip coming against the Texans. If he can keep the crappy picks under control, the Titans shouldn’t trouble him. 18 Brock Purdy SF CLE Purdy throwing three picks against Carolina bodes poorly for a bottom-tier matchup vs. Cleveland. I’d look elsewhere. 19 Daniel Jones IND HOU Even after his bye week, Jones remained at QB7 on the year. He’ll return to QB1 ranks next week, but against the Texans, it’s a no-go. 20 Tyler Shough NO MIA It’s unclear if Shough has elite fantasy upside to tap into in good matchups, but we’ll likely find out this week. If not, he returns to the bottom five next week. 21 Baker Mayfield TB ARI Mayfield has a shoulder injury and is pushing to play, which isn’t a circumstance you’d want to play him through. He will return to the QB1 borderline if he plays well enough through it. 22 Tua Tagovailoa MIA NO I can’t come up with many circumstances in which I’d want to play Tua, but this is one where if I stared long enough, I could talk myself into it. 23 Cam Ward TEN JAC Ward surprised against the Seahawks last week, posting by far his best performance of his rookie year. It was his first ever QB1 week. Will he roll it forward into a great matchup vs. the Jags? 24 Kirk Cousins ATL NYJ Cousins’ 2nd start of 2025 looked much more like Cousins, but still not strong enough to put him on the streaming radar. He can start to push up to that range if he crushes the Jets. 25 Davis Mills HOU IND I don’t know if Mills will play, but he’s been a steadying force. He’d be a consideration in a desperate superflex situation, but not much else. 26 Tyrod Taylor NYJ ATL Our string of underwhelming backups continues with Taylor, who I have zero interest in playing with the true dearth of talent in his pass catcher group. 27 Bryce Young CAR LAR Young’s last four games: 4, 3, 32 and 10 points. Now he gets the Rams. He’s not startable. 28 Geno Smith LVR LAC It’s painful to watch Smith play right now, and the Chargers are a bottom-five matchup for QBs. He’s a full avoid. 29 Shedeur Sanders CLE SF I am curious to see how the Sanders experience meets a Niners defense that is decimated but still put Young in bad spots Monday. I need to see more than 11 completions for Sanders before he’s a streamer.30 Aaron Rodgers PIT BUF Is Rodgers healthy? I don’t particularly care, as the Bills are a run funnel team that the Steelers will clearly attack on the ground. 31 Marcus Mariota WAS DEN Denver is pushing Houston suddenly for the worst QB matchup, and so Mariota is completely off the radar this week. 32 Max Brosmer MIN SEA Brosmer’s first NFL start will come in about the worst spot you could imagine. The Seahawks D-Line will eat him alive. It’s worth monitoring if he can push J.J. McCarthy for this job long-term, though. 33* Jameis Winston NYG NE If Dart misses another week, Winston becomes a backend QB1 in the Prescott, Goff, Nix tier. 34* C.J. Stroud HOU IND I’d be more interested in Stroud than Mills, to the tune of roughly 20th overall this week, but this concussion is sketching me out. 35* Mason Rudolph PIT BUF Rudolph and Rodgers would be in the exact same spot in my rankings. Buffalo is a tough matchup. 36* J.J. McCarthy MIN SEA McCarthy would be slightly preferable to Brosmer, moving up a few spots off the bottom, but nowhere close to a startable range. 37* Teddy Bridgewater TB ARI Bridgewater looked terrible in relief of Mayfield, so he’d rank only above Brosmer for me this week if he gets the start.
