A nice and balanced week continues with a decent six-game slate of games. Tonight was another night of NBA Cup Group Play as these games should carry a little more weight than other regular season games. With the added importance, maybe tonight we see tighter rotations and less run for some of the end of the bench dudes. But it would also help solidify the fantasy value of the bench players who still got enough run on the court in these games. So let’s dig into the notable performances of lightly rostered players who could be worth a pickup by fantasy managers. Be sure to continuously check back throughout the night as I add names to the list.
Standard Leagues
(<50% rostered on Yahoo)
Al Horford (42% rostered)
Tonight’s game: 32 minutes, 20 points (7-of-11 FG, 2-of-2 FT), four triples, seven rebounds, three blocks.
Kristaps Porzingis is still working his way back and still may not be back until December. Until then, there is no reason why Horford should continue to remain on waivers, He is providing sixth round value so far and it is legit and should come as no surprise. He has provided eighth round per game value or better in 63+ games over the last three seasons. He provides value in multiple counting categories and have good percentages. He cannot be on waivers. Period.
Payton Pritchard (44% rostered)
Tonight’s game: 26 minutes, 13 points (5-of-9 FG), three triples, three assists, one steal.
Efficient scoring, triples, some dimes and a steal. Just another night in the office for the Celtics’ sixth man. He has really come on strong to begin the year, finding himself in a critical role off the bench that has opened the door to him providing sixth-round value. There is no reason to doubt Pritchard any more as we are 15 games into the season.
