Key Storylines

Claxton Upgraded To Questionable: Starting center Nicolas Claxton was able to practice on Thursday and is listed as questionable for Friday’s contest. His potential return could push Ben Simmons back to the second unit, although Dorian Finney-Smith is also questionable. Simmons had been putting up decent numbers as of late, ranking inside the top-120 in per-game value in 9-cat formats over the past two weeks. Simmons can be held onto in standard formats for fantasy managers in need of assists, but should not be considered a must-roster player moving forward, especially if he is coming off the bench again.

Full of Drama: The Sixers do not only have the worst record in the league at the moment, but the franchise is currently constantly in the headlines for the wrong reasons. Focusing on what is actually happening on the court, Tyrese Maxey was able to make his return on Wednesday on a strict minutes restriction. Unfortunately for the Sixers, Paul George seemed to re-injure the same knee he hyperextended during the preseason, and will be re-evaluated next Monday. This leaves the Sixers once again missing one of their core pieces moving forward, and while Maxey and Joel Embiid continue to ramp up, Jared McCain needs to be rostered and started in all formats. Caleb Martin and Kelly Oubre will benefit from George’s likely absence, but are better suited as options for deeper formats until we see either of them string along a number of solid outings.

Stream of the Game

Jalen Wilson has been quietly putting up really solid scoring numbers for the Nets coming off the bench as of late and is worth streaming in for a boost in points and 3-pointers. Note that Cam Thomas (probable) returning on Friday should push Wilson back to the bench, but he had some double-digit scoring games with Thomas in the lineup as well. 

Alternatives: Ziaire Williams, Caleb Martin, Kelly Oubre, Guershon Yabusele and Noah Clowney (deeper formats).

Key Storylines

Borderline: We all know how good of a basketball player Jrue Holiday is, but from a fantasy perspective, we are getting to a stage in which Holiday is not anymore what he used to be.
Considering his role on the Celtics and the fact Holiday will be rested in back-to-backs throughout the season, there is no need to hold Holiday at all costs in shallower formats any longer. Holiday is currently the 129th ranked player in per-game value in 9-cat formats.

Brogdon’s Minutes: Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Malcolm Brogdon’s minutes in regards to how it impacts rookie guard Bub Carrington’s production. The Wizards are already being rumored to be involved in trade talks around Kyle Kuzma, and it would not be surprising to see them make Brogdon available in trades as well. Regardless, the hope is that the Wizards will indeed lean into their younger players more as the season continues, but is something fantasy managers will need to monitor throughout the season.

Both Malcolm Brogdon and Kyshawn George are solid streaming options to consider in standard formats.
