• This is it, the last Streamer Tidd-Bits before the regular season ends! If you are still here with us as we approach the end of September, I would like to thank you for being a loyal reader and for supporting my work. Additionally, I hope the series has been beneficial to you in some way, whether it’s been by hitting on a streamer or late season pickup (e.g. Bowden Francis), or perhaps you learned something new about evaluating pitchers. But enough of that, I will get into more sappy stuff in the final recap article that will be released after the season ends, but for now we have work to do for one more week.

Our recaps this week actually performed very well. Despite splitting our most recent merit-based and matchup-based recommendations, I’m still happy with the players who graded out as losses. Our merit-based loss from the week of 9/2 – 9/8, Patrick Corbin, may have helped you out depending on what you were looking for. If you needed help in strikeouts and wins then he came through with 19 and two, respectively. He made three starts and the middle one is what soured the milk. Because of the elevated ERA and WHIP I have to give him a loss, but I could see some arguing that he was a win because of the strikeouts and wins. If you haven’t figured this out by now, I’m very focused on ratios with my pitchers, but there are others who sometimes may be more focused on strikeouts. I’d be curious to know which stats you’re more concerned with when it comes to analyzing starting pitchers, comment on the article or find me on Twitter (I refuse to call it X) and let me know. Our win from that week was Rhett Lowder, who ironically enough had eight fewer strikeouts and one fewer win than Corbin, but had a much better ERA and a WHIP that didn’t hurt you (1.20). I think everyone would agree Lowder was a win, but some may have preferred the Corbin stat line if they preferred volume.

Lastly, we have our matchup-based recommendations from the week of 9/9-9/15. As I mentioned earlier, we split our suggestions 1-1, but Brandon Williamson did not hurt you by any means if you streamed him. His loss is more of a technicality than anything, as he only went five innings, struck out five, and failed to earn a win. Still a very nice start in my book. Our matchup-based win was Alec Marsh, and did he ever come through. Marsh not only got the win in his start against the Pirates, but he almost doubled our strikeout threshold as he struck out 11 batters. The only complaint you could have with his stat line is the WHIP was a little high, but over only 5.3 innings a 1.31 WHIP won’t hurt you. And now we’ve made it to the moment you all have been waiting for, our final Streamer Tidd-Bit recommendations of the 2024 fantasy baseball season.
