Welcome to my 2024 post-trade deadline dynasty rankings! Even though there weren’t many major trades at the deadline, there has still been some major changes since my last rankings were released in December.
Once again, tiers are a loose guideline. Players within a tier are somewhat close together in my eyes, with factors such as fantasy team state (contending or rebuilding), stat preference, upside, and aging playing a role in stratifying players. Don’t sweat over the actual ranking too much – the general range in which players fall is much more important than the specific ranking. In this version I’ve also included rank changes to log trends.
We’ve also had some players enter and leave my top 350. I’ve noted them below, with their previous rank in parentheses. Note that for formatting reasons, the new players entering the top 350 have their ranks as “0” in the full rankings.

Mark C’s FREE Dynasty Category Rankings – December 2023
Rank Player Rank Change Age Team Notes 1 Victor Wembanyama 4 20.2 San Antonio Wemby does need to improve the self-created numbers. But that should come in time. He's one of the most exciting prospects in a long time. 2 Nikola Jokic -1 29.1 Denver Jokic is still awesome and ultra-consistent, but others have caught up. 3 Luka Doncic -1 25.0 Dallas The top isolation player in the game. Racks up counting stats like crazy, but high turnovers and middling FT% keep him from the top. 4 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 0 25.7 Oklahoma City Insane scoring paired with elite steals and FT%. I do wish the threes and assists were better, but that's quibbling. 5 Tyrese Haliburton -2 24.0 Indiana Haliburton has upped his pull-up numbers and scoring load, which was really the only thing missing from his fantasy game. 6 Jayson Tatum 0 26.0 Boston Uber-consistent player with both stats and playtime. High volume of threes keeps FG% down a bit. Great all-around game with little fantasy holes. 7 Chet Holmgren 2 21.9 Oklahoma City Chet is producing across every category in just his rookie year. He already looks so polished and still has room to grow. 8 Donovan Mitchell 6 27.5 Cleveland An elite scorer who made some strides in efficiency and steals to round out fantasy game. 9 Anthony Edwards 1 22.6 Minnesota Edwards has made modest improvements but still not super efficient or a playmaking hub. It could come in time, but this ranking reflects more positively on his youth rather than his year-to-year upside. 10 Joel Embiid -3 30.0 Philadelphia Recent meniscus injury is worrisome. The per-game upside is too much to ignore, but the longevity of his career is more in question. 11 LaMelo Ball -3 22.5 Charlotte The recent ankle sprain injury concerns me as these injuries continue adding up, but I can't ignore the gains Ball has made in his finishing and FG%. There's a buy-low window here if you can stomach some of the injury risk. 12 Giannis Antetokounmpo 0 29.3 Milwaukee Defensive stats have jumped back up, and everything looks like what we're used to even, with Lillard in town. 13 Trae Young -2 25.5 Atlanta Category winner in assists and FT% keeps Trae high for me. Solid points, steals, threes as well. Hurts in FG% and blocks, but a good stat combination for punt builds. 14 Devin Booker -1 27.4 Phoenix Booker has been tasked with greater playmaking usage, and he has responded admirably. Should led Phoenix to entrust Booker with this role going forward. 15 Scottie Barnes 0 22.6 Toronto Some of Scottie's percentages still leave me wary of his scoring output (midrange and three-point numbers specifically). But Scottie has earned more usage and looks more comfortable getting to his spots. Tack on improved steal and block rates and the fantasy breakout is here. 16 Alperen Sengun 1 21.6 Houston Sengun has slowed down as teams focus on shutting him down. With better players, I expect Sengun to play even better than we've seen. 17 Darius Garland 2 24.1 Cleveland Garland is having a weird year, with a spike in turnovers and worse shooting from deep. It all feels outlier to me, so I'll err to what we know Garland can produce. 18 Tyrese Maxey 2 23.3 Philadelphia With Embiid off, Maxey does struggle. That leads me to doubts if he could be a true number one 19 Anthony Davis 4 31.0 LA Lakers I get the injury concerns, but AD is such a solid producer except in triples. 20 Evan Mobley 2 22.7 Cleveland Mobley's finishing has improved, but we haven't seen the offensive self-creation improve too much. Without that aspect, it's hard for me to see as high a ceiling for Mobley. 21 Lauri Markkanen 3 26.8 Utah Strong points, threes, efficiency and boards as Lauri shows last year wasn't a fluke. Won't have assists nor defensive stats. 22 Karl-Anthony Towns -6 28.3 Minnesota The Wolves look more put together this year, and Towns' fantasy game has bounced back nicely. Gobert inherently limits his ceiling for blocks and boards currently, but Towns remains a reliable dynasty player. 23 Bam Adebayo -2 26.6 Miami Well-rounded big whose only fantasy flaw is lack of threes. A chance his blocks and assists could bump up, but if not Bam still has a great floor. 24 Kevin Durant 1 35.4 Phoenix Durant continues to be awesome. No reason to expect different for the next season or two. 25 Scoot Henderson 3 20.1 Portland Rookie teenage point guards are supposed to struggle. Be patient with Scoot - compared to similar point guard prospects at his age, his output isn't all too surprising. 26 Jalen Williams 19 22.9 Oklahoma City Williams' self-creation stats are rather eye-popping. It's not tapped into as much with SGA in the fold, but the Thunder most likely have their second on-ball offensive star in-house. 27 Paolo Banchero 3 21.3 Orlando I'm not sure if the self-creation efficiency ever comes around. But there's still tons of value in points, boards, and assists. If the shot diet and/or shotmaking improve, then watch out. 28 Jaren Jackson Jr. -10 24.5 Memphis Jackson has shown he can't be a reliable second scoring option. His reliance on others to help that department drops his down. 29 Cade Cunningham 0 22.5 Detroit The Pistons are a complete mess, but Cade is part of that mess. I haven't been impressed by the aspects Cade can control and think the imagined fantasy upside with him is dwindling. 30 Stephen Curry -3 36.0 Golden State Curry has dipped slightly below his usual standards, but that's baked in with his age. 31 Domantas Sabonis 0 27.8 Sacramento Sabonis is such a monster in boards and FG%. The assists from the center position is such an additional boon which helps make up for the lack of defensive stats and threes. 32 De'Aaron Fox 0 26.2 Sacramento The rim finishing has taken a hit, but that's been paired with greater threes attempts and percentage. I'll take that trade-off. 33 Damian Lillard -7 33.6 Milwaukee The scoring and efficiency hit in Milwaukee look to be real. I'm concerned if we will see the shot-making highs again from Dame. 34 Jalen Brunson 6 27.5 New York Brunson has provided much of the same for the Knicks this year. He's also added a deadly three-point shot to his game, bringing his value up further. 35 Desmond Bane 0 25.7 Memphis A rare fairly efficient shooter who has shown great strides increasing his playmaking game. Won't be a number one option but a stellar number two. 36 Franz Wagner 8 22.5 Orlando Should see scoring game continue to improve, along with better percentages. As Magic improve, so should Franz. Can easily see peak stat set of 23-6-4.5 with solid efficiency. A seamless fit with nearly any player types. 37 Jalen Johnson 16 22.2 Atlanta Johnson has thrived in an expanded role for the Hawks. He's provided value across the fantasy spectrum and should only develop further. 38 Kristaps Porzingis -4 28.6 Boston Lower scoring usage but more efficient scoring balances out the fantasy set for KP in Boston. A well-rounded big for any team. 39 Kyrie Irving -3 32.0 Dallas Irving is a near-lock to miss a decent amount of games for whatever reason. But per-game he's typically a top-10 player with elite efficiency and volume scoring. Should still have some prime years ahead, and Dallas needs his scoring and usage. 40 Dejounte Murray -1 27.5 Atlanta Even with a high usage player in Trae Young, Murray still produced top-40 numbers on a per-game basis. Looming trade could spell a usage decline however. 41 Jalen Duren 1 20.3 Detroit The Pistons have been whack this season, but at least Duren has firmly been the starting center. Mixture of playmaking and athletic ability impresses - just needs to stay healthier. Lack of blocks a little concerning. 42 Brandon Miller 25 21.3 Charlotte Miller is flashing everything we want to see. I'm a big believer in the scoring being efficient enough - pair that with triples and other goodies and that's a dang good fantasy player. 43 Ja Morant -6 24.6 Memphis I toyed with dropping Morant even further. The durability is a greater concern, as the injury list piles up. 44 Myles Turner -6 28.0 Indiana While Turner lacks in boards, his threes and blocks from the center spot help make up for it. Playing next to Haliburton keeps the FG% decent as well. 45 Jaylen Brown -4 27.4 Boston He's basically the same player as he has been, just less shot and rebound volume. 46 Jamal Murray 4 27.0 Denver While I think the shotmaking tends to be overrated, the added assist volume is more notable. 47 Amen Thompson 16 21.1 Houston Amen has flashed the athletic tools we all loved pre-draft. Now it's just a question of how much does the shot improve. 48 Zion Williamson -2 23.7 New Orleans Zion has stayed healthier, but the explosiveness looks less...well explosive. I doubt we see peak Zion again. 49 Kawhi Leonard 8 32.7 LA Clippers Elite per-game option. Looks to be fairly healthy coming off the knee surgery, which alleviates some injury concerns. 50 Ausar Thompson -3 21.1 Detroit High-end blend of defensive ability and athleticism has already displayed itself. The scoring is a massive work in progress though, which keeps the ceiling a little lower than his twin. Want to get access to the rest of Mark’s dynasty rankings?
