• We’re already into Week 3, the prime opportunity for you to start declaring all your sleeper draft pick wins, you waiver wire pickup steals of the league, and for you to never mention that mid-round draft pick that has produced nothing to date. With The NBA Cup games continuing on November 7th, this of course warps the schedules just a little bit. How does this affect teams’ schedules? Read on below to find out!

    Injuries to Watch

Coby White (calf) is set for re-evaluation in early November, so be on the lookout for updates. His scoring juice would be welcomed on the Bulls while slightly dinging the values of Tre Jones, Kevin Huerter, and Ayo Dosunmu. Ditto for Darius Garland (toe), who is targeting a return this upcoming week. Managers who drafted him should be pleased he looks on track to return within the scheduled timeframe. Adding to this is the potential return of the point guard, De’Aaron Fox’s (right hamstring) whose reported timeline was to return by November 1st, so look out for something this weekend. We’ll have to see if that is the case. At a lower level, Isaiah Collier (right hamstring strain) is in the G League for reconditioning. However, with the play of Keyonte George, it is unlikely Collier will be an option in shallow formats right away.

As for players who recently got injured, Anthony Edwards (right hamstring strain) is extremely unlikely to play this upcoming week. No one has emerged as the beneficiary in his absecne, except for a player already rostered, that is, Donte DiVincenzo. Norman Powell (right groin strain) looks set to miss a few more games. Jaime Jaquez Jr. has been rolling strongly of late and should be the main add here. Pelle Larsson is also seeing increased minutes, although he is more of a 14-team option. Kevin Porter Jr. (left ankle sprain) doesn’t appear close to returning. Ryan Rollins should already be grabbed, but Cole Anthony can add some volume stats as well.

The trio of Mavs big men have all been dealing with injuries in the past week. Anthony Davis (left lower leg soreness) had to leave last Wednesday’s game and is not expected to play on Saturday. This could easily keep out him in the early parts of Week 3. Dereck Lively II (right knee sprain) and Daniel Gafford (right ankle sprain) have both been out, without further clarify on their return date. Unfortunately, there really isn’t a clear add if these players were to miss further games as Dwight Powell is not a convincing option for most formats. Andrew Nembhard (shoulder) continues to miss games. RayJ Dennis has done well enough filling in the point guard gap. Ben Sheppard is another potential add, but his fantasy game is more lukewarm.

For additonal players we expect to return soon, I would expect Chet Holmgren (back) to be…back(?) to action shortly. He did miss a non-B2B game on Thursday, but against the Wizards, the team could afford to take it a little easier. Jalen Green (left hamstring strain) was supposed to be back around this timeframe but is out for tonight. Monitor his status as the week approaches. Dom Barlow (right elbow laceration) will be evaluated early in the week and could re-enter the starting lineup upon return depending on the status of Paul George (knee). He can provide some cheap boards. Nique Clifford (right hamstring strain) will be re-evaluated shortly. With the Kings showing little rule of their line-ups however, he is far from a priority add upon return.

For some real deep-league crazies, JJ Redick said Adou Thiero (left knee surgery recovery) is close to a return. His defense and energy could make him a quick entry in the rotation, but no need to rush to add him just yet. Just monitor Lakers games to see if he makes any impact.
