I’m not one for long introductions, so let us jump right in.
As always here is a reminder of the differences in the scoring systems for ESPN Standard Points Leagues and Yahoo Standard Points Leagues.
POINTS LEAGUE SCORING ESPN FPTS STATISTIC YAHOO FPTS 1 POINTS 1 1 REBOUNDS 1.2 2 ASSISTS 1.5 4 STEALS 3 4 BLOCKS 3 -2 TURNOVERS -1 ESPN EFFICIENCY YAHOO 1 3PM n/a -1 FGA n/a 2 FGM n/a -1 FTA n/a 1 FTM n/a Of course, we have a new format, which is Yahoo’s “High Score.”
The High Score System is:
Points = 1 fantasy point each
Rebounds = 1 fantasy point each
Assists = 2 fantasy points each
Steals = 3 fantasy points each
Blocks = 3 fantasy points eachAs a general rule:
ESPN Standard Scoring will give a slight boost to players who are more efficient and get more defensive stats in addition the usual volume stats we want in points leagues.
Yahoo Standard Scoring will give a very slight boost to good rebounders and players who are high-volume offensive engines, even if they are inefficient, but turnovers still come at a cost.
High Score takes leaning into offensive volume to a higher level, meaning players who take a bunch of shots and get a ton of assists are greatly rewarded with absolutely no hits for inefficiency or turnovers.
Points League Adds
As usual, if I don’t specify the format next to the name, I’m speaking of all three.
Neemias Queta (ESPN, Yahoo)
Queta may not be widely available, but I am covering all bases here. I did describe Queta as more of a 9-cat player than a points league option earlier in the season and called him droppable in points formats. I dropped him in an ESPN points league myself (I’ve held him in a 12-team 9-cat league all season, however), but I added Queta again in that points league soon after. Since then, it’s become clear that Joe Mazzulla doesn’t trust the other bigs at his disposal. I think Queta has room to rise further (19-point, 18-rebound game aside), but at least, he has a solid floor because no one is coming for his job.
