    Long-term value is great, but of course, at this point in the season, you need to be able to pivot at a moment’s notice. For example, I don’t have Jamal Shead as an add here, but Immanuel Quickley was ruled out for Monday’s game. Shead can be a one-night option on Monday as a streamer, but if Quickley ends up missing extra time, then Shead’s upside is further improved. You just need to win the matchup in front of you, so remember that.

    So if Quickley remains out, Shead is an add, but he isn’t an outright pickup since we don’t know Quickley’s status beyond Monday night’s game.

    As always here is a reminder of the differences in the scoring systems for ESPN Standard Points Leagues and Yahoo Standard Points Leagues.

    WordPress Data Table Plugin

    Of course, we have a new format, which is Yahoo’s “High Score.”

    The High Score System is:ย
    Points = 1 fantasy point each
    Rebounds = 1 fantasy point each
    Assists = 2 fantasy points each
    Steals = 3 fantasy points each
    Blocks = 3 fantasy points each

    As a general rule:ย

    ESPN Standard Scoring will give a slight boost to players who are more efficient and get more defensive stats in addition the usual volume stats we want in points leagues.

    Yahoo Standard Scoring will give a very slight boost to good rebounders and players who are high-volume offensive engines, even if they are inefficient, but turnovers still come at a cost.

    High Score takes leaning into offensive volume at a higher level, meaning players who take a bunch of shots and get a ton of assists are greatly rewarded with absolutely no hits for inefficiency or turnovers.

    Fantasy Playoff Notes

    The numbers here are taken after the games on Sunday, March 22, but before the games on Monday, March 23.

    For ESPN Points Leagues:
    80th = 33.3 FPTs/g (Rudy Gobert, VJ Edgecombe)
    90th = 32.3 FPTs/g (DeMar DeRozan)
    100th = 30.9 FPTs/g (Jabari Smith Jr., Shaedon Sharpe)
    120th = 28.9 FPTs/g (Ausar Thompson, Ajay Mitchell)
    150th = 25.9 FPTs/g (Quentin Grimes, Cedric Coward, Bobby Portis)

    For Yahoo Points Leagues:
    80th = 32.18 FPTs/g (Andrew Nembhard)
    90th = 31.06 FPTs/gย  (Andrew WIggins)
    100th = 30.17 FPTs/g (Nicolas Claxton)
    120th = 27.66 FPTs/g (Naji Marshall)
    150th = 25.08 FPTs/g (John Collins)

    For High Score Points Leagues:
    40th = 42 FPTs/g (Cooper Flagg, Dejounte Murray, Bam Adebayo)
    50th = 39 FPTs/g (Brandon Ingram, Trae Young, Domantas Sabonis)
    60th = 38 FPTs/g (Jalen Williams & 12 other players)
    100th = 33 FPTs/g (Matas Buzelis & 13 other players)

    If you read the edition of this article from two weeks ago, you would remember that I pointed out the top-100 thresholds as key numbers for ESPN and Yahoo. To sort of “dilute” it a bit, around 30 fantasy points per game is a solid baseline for a 12-team points league hold. In a 10-team league, you may want to push that to the top-90 which equates to 32 FPTs/g for ESPN and 31 FPTs/g for Yahoo, give or take a few decimal places.

    For High Score, I aim for top 50-to-60 level production which is around 38-to-39 FPTs/g, but what is more important is having “spike potential” to give you a 50-fantasy-point week. So, some players may average less than 38 or 39 FPTs/g, but their “spike potential” can still net you a 50.

    As an aside, Jalen Williams was not dropped in any of my leagues. However, if he was in yours, he is an obvious add.

    ESPN & Yahoo Format Adds

    Daniss Jenkins

    There isn’t enough “multi-week sample size” data to provide you, but when I blurbed Jenkins’ potential upside after the Cade Cunningham injury announcement, it was this:

    “In eight full games as a starter this season, Jenkins has averaged 14.8 points (.418 FG%, .640 FT% on 3.1 attempts per game), 1.3 triples (.256 3P%), 2.9 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.3 blocks in 31.4 MPG, according to StatMuse. Jenkins’ season-long FT% is .777, so the larger sample size suggests he can knock them down a little better. Keep in mind that the Pistons’ last games this week (March 16 to March 22) are on Thursday and Friday, so you can drop Jenkins on Saturday if this is your final. The Pistons play on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday next week (March 23 to March 29).”

    That was prior to his games last Thursday and Friday. The points and assists should add up to solid value in points leagues. The efficiency stuff may balance out better for Yahoo, where there isn’t a hit for that, but ESPN rewards assists a little more, so it likely balances out. For what it’s worth, I have Jenkins in my 12-team ESPN points final and in a 16-team ESPN points quarterfinal (yes, that league ends in the last week of the regular season).

    Brice Sensabaugh

    Over the past four weeks, he is at 30.0 ESPN fpts/g and 29.13 on Yahoo. That rises to 41.4 for ESPN scoring and 37.68 for Yahoo scoring over the past two weeks.

    I am going to stop repeating the “fpts/g” from here since you guys likely get what I am referring to by now (fantasy points per game) when I quote those numbers, unless otherwise stated.

    Ace Bailey

    Over the past four weeks, Bailey is giving us 33.4 in ESPN scoring and 31.70 in Yahoo scoring. That rises to 40.8 on ESPN and 36.22 on Yahoo over the past two weeks. Bailey (and Sensabaugh) should both take a bunch of shots the rest of the way.
