A one-game slate doesn’t sound like much, but for fantasy managers, it’s the kind of night that separates the sharp from the casual. With only one matchup on tap, every waiver add, every speculative stash and every sneaky stream carries magnified weight. It’s about squeezing every ounce of value from the schedule and capitalizing on it.
Tonight’s cheat sheet is less about abundance and more about precision. Josh Minott is showing flashes that make you wonder if he’s finally breaking through; Jusuf Nurkic is back in the mix as the post-Kessler vacuum reshapes Utah’s frontcourt; and a trio of young frontcourt players: Kyle Filipowski, Taylor Hendricks and Noah Clowney, are testing how much patience fantasy managers really have. Add in opportunists like Daniel Gafford, Derik Queen and Kel’el Ware, each sitting one injury away from top-75 upside and you’ve got enough moving pieces to generate fantasy intrigue.
Even Russell Westbrook, left for dead in most formats, is reminding everyone that usage still matters in fantasy and when the stars sit, the old man can still run wild. On a night like today, one well-timed add can swing your week. So let’s dive in and break down where the real edges lie.
Top Pickups
This is the “general must-add” section regardless of the slate. If these players are being overlooked and remain chilling on the waiver wire, consider adding them to your squad.
Josh Minott
Every fantasy season has one player who teases breakout potential, disappears for a stretch and then pops back up just as managers start to move on. That’s Josh Minott right now. He torched the Wizards with 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting, adding five boards, three steals and three triples in 34 minutes, an eye-popping line even with the “yeah, but it was the Wizards” disclaimer attached. The bigger takeaway is opportunity: Minott and Queta look like the frontcourt combo that makes the most sense and if this rotation finally stabilizes, Minott’s energy, rebounding and defensive range could make him more than a flier. You don’t chase the box score; you hold and see if this is the start of something real.
