Time for an exciting Dynasty Check-In where we examine older veterans past their prime. Wait what?! Where is the glam, the youthful energy, the HYPE?

In dynasty, older, contending teams matter just as much as younger, rebuilding ones! And for contenders, cheap veterans who can power a drive to the championship are vital. If you can trade for these contributors for little draft capital and/or prospect value, even better! That’s what we’re going to identify here – players who don’t have the greatest long-term dynasty value but certainly can be beneficial in one or two key stats to bolster your team in their championship aspirations.

For each of the categories below, I highlight some standout names. You’re not going to find players under 25, players who are waiting in the wings for their shot, or players who could break out in future seasons, because managers are likely to ask for more for them in a trade. Nope, you’re going to see some boring ol’ names that almost certainly do not have a “next level” to their game, which makes them easier trade targets to bolster your squad. And you’re going to like it…because these players could lead you to a dynasty title.

Points (At Least 13 Points Per Game)

Points can be tougher to find if you’re looking for cheap contributors, but there are some options out there. Collin Sexton is one for me. He’s averaging well over 15 points a game even in “just” a rotation role on the Hornets. It doesn’t feel like his role is likely to change much as there have been no trade rumors surrounding him. Add on the possibility of LaMelo Ball missing any time, and Sexton would be able to be an impactful scoring option. I can’t imagine the Sexton manager would ask for too much, given he doesn’t project as a starter in the future.
