• Holmgren Giddey

It was easy to see the Thunder as an up-and-coming team in the NBA. I don’t think a lot of people were prepared to watch them lead a conference though, even less one that saw multiple teams take major steps forward.

Fantasy-wise, this team has leading players in dynasty formats that you probably already missed out on or managed to roster on your team for a bargain, but there’s more potential than the simple eye sees in this roster, and that’s what we’ll be evaluating right here.

    Dynasty Risers

    Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (1-3)

It’s just incredible to see the 26-year-old on the court and within the rankings: he just keeps getting better on both. It was hard to see how Shai could top his 2022-2023 performance, becoming a top-five option for dynasty formats without a question. Fast forward to 2024, he’s got a case to challenge for the number one spot over a phenom like Victor Wembanyama, the new darling of the dynasty format, as well as Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic. Shai has the tools and age to turn your fantasy team into a contender for years and years to come.

The scoring is still there with a slight improvement in efficiency, his defense has been on another level and it has translated to fantasy stats. His rebounds and assists are up, and what impresses me the most: his turnovers dropped from 2.8 to 2.2. Long story short, if you have SGA on your roster, hold him and enjoy the ride for the next five years at a minimum.

    Chet Holmgren (6-12)

Having lost his first season as professional due to a foot injury, the 22-year-old rebounded well and elevated as high as he could for his official debut season, and his ranking shows exactly that. Holmgren’s shot-blocking ability and great offensive efficiency on an ultra-competitive Thunder team have been more than enough to have every fantasy manager trusting his abilities to become a top-10 player in the coming years.

Rebounding is the area where Chet needs some improvement due to him not being able to bully players in the paint consistently, as that’s also been his team’s main weakness. When his body catches up to his talent, watch out.
