Anthony’s Fantasy Baseball Week in Review – July…

The week in review covers all the starts by the starting pitchers, what the bullpens did (saves, holds-wise), how did the offense perform (runs scored, walks, strikeouts) and who stood out with the bat, if anyone did. It's guaranteed to be 4000 or more words and will cover pretty much every main fantasy statistic and impact players. And it comes at you every week.

Pickups of the Day for July 29th

The big league trade deadline is this week and, in many fantasy leagues, is coming up in the next week or two as well. But, if you can't find yourself a willing trade partner, I am here to tell you that the waiver wire is always willing to trade it's value for your failing players. So let's take a look into that wonderful sea of available players and see if we can find a few that can help you along the way.

How should you value Fernando Tatis Jr.?

Since his major league debut 2019, Fernando Tatís Jr. performed like a superstar, posting over 6.4 fWAR per 162 games throughout parts of five seasons. After missing all of 2022 through injury and suspension, Tatís Jr. found a new home in right field, winning the platinum glove in his first full season at the position. His bat was not as potent last year, primarily due to an increase in chase resulting in a substantially worse on-base percentage, but he still hit 25 home runs and stole 29 bases. In 2024, he’s made strides with the bat, and far more significantly than what meets the eye at a glance.

At this point of the season, we've seen enough of most players to get a firm idea of their abilities and to form concrete ideas about their fantasy value. Well, I'm here to tell you to throw everything you know out the window!
