LiAngelo BallSF, Oklahoma City ThunderMarc Stein of The New York Times is reporting that an Atlanta-area "bubble" concept is being considered for the upcoming G League season.
In the proposal, the teams would pay a $500K fee to play their games in Georgia and not all 28 G League teams would participate. It seems like a solid starting point for the league, but COVID-19 issues in the NBA could lead to trickle down effects in the G League, seeing that teams would ideally like to have their entire G League roster at their disposal this season. Having a bubble-style setup essentially wipes shuttling players back and forth between the NBA and the G League off the table. One important note is that players on two-way deals will be eligible to play in 50 games this season, as opposed to the 45-day limit from years past that resulted in lots of travel back and forth. The G League is still far from finalizing a plan for their 2020-21 season but they will need to get it all sorted out in the near future.
