• Willy Hernangomez
    C, Charlotte Hornets

After playing in just 13 of Charlotte’s first 42 games, Willy Hernangomez has played in 15 of the last 18, as he continues to show progress in addressing his biggest weakness, defense.

“He’s putting more effort in at the defensive end; that’s the area of most concern for me,” Hornets head coach James Borrego said. “The video and the numbers demonstrate to me that he’s making a bigger impact at that end of the floor than he has in the past; challenging more shots at the rim.” Hernangomez has size, rare strength, a gift for scoring and a knack for rebounding in traffic but defense has always kept him away from getting major minutes. He will be an unrestricted free agent in July and the Hornets continue to evaluate him ahead of the upcoming offseason. He deserves consideration in deeper leagues as his minutes have been steady in the last few games.
