Hi all!
Took the liberty to open this topic here for your feedback.
I'll post mine soon
You know where I'll be voicing mine. Monday's and Tuesday's shows, most likely.
Can't wait to hear your opinion, Dan. Definitely Erik and Aaron too! Zain and everyone at Hoop-Ball, our own drafters, our community, listeners, etc. give us feedback too!
I'll post mine soon as well.
EDIT: Just for reference, the final draft results can be found on this forum page here: https://sportsethos.com/forums/topic/hoop-ball-slow-mock-draft-rounds-10-13/page/10/#post-93932
Any chance for a 16 team league slow mock?
I'll go over my picks quickly here:
8. Missing Remote @Avery
RD1– Pick 8, Russell Westbrook, PG
I really hate drafting him. Didn't see too many championship fantasy teams with him, due to high TOs and low FG%. But he was Best Player Available...
RD2– Pick 17, Jimmy Butler, SG/SF
Really wanted Turner here, but was sniped. So... BPA again.
RD3– Pick 32, Mike Conley, PG
Again, hands down BPA at pick 32. Also kinda locks up assists, steals and 3s with Russ and Butler.
RD4- Pick 41, Otto Porter, SF
Really slid and has major upside. Here was a breakpoint for me, deciding not to punt, so I went with Porter and his low TOs and high %FG. If not for Westy, I might have taken another path...
RD5- Pick 56, Nerlens Noel, PF/C
A tthis point there were no blocks for my team. Noel fits my high-steals team, while giving me some nice big-man-stats. His upside is major, with top 25 ceiling and even more in what should be a do-or-die year for his career.
RD6- Pick 65, Marquese Chriss, PF
Chriss was my first 'gamble', as a great blocks guy who also shoot 3's. I hope he'll be a focal point for PHO this year.
RD7- Pick 80, Danilo Gallinari, SF/PF
A 2nd option in a dwindling offense, Gallinari is due for a good year and at pick 80, if he plays 70+ games, is a great value. He fits my team perfectly as he helps me to lock the 3's category, while maintaining high %FT to help me handle some low %FT guys in Noel and Chriss.
RD8- Pick 89, Darren Collison, PG
Needed a PG, since I noticed no one assists for me after the first three rounds. I really wanted Pat Beverley here, but if Dieng would fall, I would take him over Collison...
RD9- Pick 104, Allen Crabbe, SG
Upside pick. The Nets really went after him these last couple of years.
RD10- Pick 113, Milos Teodosic PG
Again, wanted not to let Westy's assists go to waste, and I knew I would go for some 'safe' C's over the next few rounds. Milos was kinda the last servicable PG on the board for me.
RD11- Pick 128, Robin Lopez, C
Blocks and rebounds, boost FT%
RD12- Pick 137, Tristan Thompson, C
Blocks and rebounds, boost FT%
RD13- Pick 152, Jaylen Brown, SG/SF
Really surprised to get him that late. Should be good for money counters.
To recap, my team isn't the best or the flashiest, but I think it's well rounded, with FG% as the major clear disadvantage. I should completely rule FT% and steals and be top three in 3's, and top half in boards and assists. I did my best covering my ass in blocks and TOs and should be fine with points (but who cares for points, right Dan?).
This has been a great experience! Thank you Hoop-Ball and thank you Erik and the drafters.
That's right! "eff" points.
We are planning on having more events in these forums and I'll broach the idea of a 16-team mock in here with Erik and the guys. Thanks for the feedback!
Doing a quick feedback on everyone's team. I'll try to be concise, and only stop and write a bit on the picks I found interesting. Please take my opinions with a grain of salt, as I'm definitely not a fantasy expert. Good job to Erik and all my fellow drafters for putting together so much effort and time into this, high fives!
1. Arch Rivals @jeremiah
RD1- Pick 1, Giannis Antetokounmpo, SF/PF
- I think when it comes to pick #1, I would prefer sticking to players with minor weaknesses, like KD, Steph, or KAT. I really support Dan's take that Giannis' poor 3pts and mediocre FT% drives him a bit down. Either way, it shouldn't matter that much as Giannis is gonna kill it this season.
RD2- Pick 24, Hassan Whiteside, C
- Looks like a BPA (best pick available). Good pick.
RD3- Pick 25, Khris Middleton, SG/SF
- Not sure I would draft him this early. I have him somewhere around 40, although if I had a pick at around 30, I would take him there simply because Middleton's one of my favorite fantasy players and he's helped me through many of my teams in the past.
RD4- Pick 48, DeAndre Jordan, C
- I'm not too heavy on punting.. So I have no opinion here.
RD5- Pick 49, Dennis Schröder, PG
- I think this might be too early. But judging from mocks I've seen, it looks like he's staying on the path of being overdrafted. I have him around 80-90, with 65 being the ceiling. If you're going for a FG% and TO punt, I think he's okay then.
RD6- Pick 72, Jeff Teague, PG
- Good value pick. He was 44 last year, and being in a crowded Wolves team, I see him dropping to somewhere around here.
RD7- Pick 73, Jamal Murray, PG/SG
- I think this is an okay pick. Not sure how much he can increase in his stats, but as the projected starting PG, I'm sure he'll shine this season. I would've probably held off on picking him til your next pick, but it seems like you were looking for your PG/Gs, and it certainly was a high chance he'd be picked before then.
RD8- Pick 96, Marcin Gortat, C (Auto-pick, AFK)
- Auto-picked, but it's a good and safe pick at 96.
RD9- Pick 97, Evan Fournier, SG
- I would've waited til your next pick for him. However, it seems like you needed a good source of 3s and PTs.
RD10- Pick 120, Marcus Smart, PG
- Celtics looking real crowded, but I'm sure there'll be minutes for Smart somewhere. I don't mind this pick at 120.
RD11- Pick 121, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, SG
- Another good 3s guy.
RD12- Pick 144, Jarrett Allen, PF/C
- Gotta be honest, I forgot who this was. I thought there were still way better choices left on the board, but it's pretty much your last pick anyway.
RD13- Pick 145, Chandler Parsons, SF/PF
- Good last pick. I hope he can return back to his Rockets form.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Sloane Rangers @CharlesJr.
RD1– Pick 2, Karl Anthony-Towns, C
- No horrible weaknesses, and I had KAT last season, won my league with him.
RD2– Pick 23, Kristaps Porzingis, PF/C
- I live in NYC. As much as I love KP, I'll be trying to avoid drafting him this season. He's burned me in the past, and it'll be more of an emotional decision.
RD3– Pick 26, Joel Embiid, PF/C
- Another player I definitely won't be drafting.. unless he miraculously drops to 40-ish.
RD4- Pick 47, Victor Oladipo, PG/SG
- I love this pick! I also hate you for taking him. I had just picked Eric Bledsoe, and was eyeing Oladipo for my next pick but you sniped him. Argh! Anyway, great pick. I think he could be top 35 easily, just like his Orlando days.
RD5- Pick 50, Gary Harris, SG/SF
- Another good pick at 50. Finished 55 last season, and now without Gallinari there, he should be improve even more.
RD6- Pick 71, Tobias Harris, SF/PF
- Solid pick. I somehow always end up with Tobias Harris every year, but he has yet to disappoint me.
RD7- Pick 74, Devin Booker, SG
- I'm not drafting Booker, unless he falls to 90 at least, which is unlikely in most drafts.
RD8- Pick 95, Markelle Fultz, PG
- Can't blame you on this pick at 95. I mean, Lonzo's been going as early as 45 in some mocks. Fultz surely can't be that much worse, being the NBA draft #1 pick.
RD9- Pick 98, Jonas Valanciunas, C
- Dropped enough to warrant a pickup.
RD10- Pick 119, JaMychal Green, PF
- Great pick! I think he's gonna be top 100 this year with Zandolph gone.
RD11- Pick 122, Marvin Williams, SF/PF
- Good pick! I don't see how he would drop too far from his 2 previous years, which was top 85 & top 50.
RD12- Pick 143, JJ Redick, SG
- As long as he keeps shooting those 3s and remain relatively the same in Philly, this is a great 12th round pick.
RD13- Pick 146, John Collins, PF/C
- Good way to end your draft. An empty Hawks team that's probably gonna want to give their #19 pick rook a shot during the rebuild process.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. We Talking About Practice? @vivek90244
RD1– Pick 3, Stephen Curry, PG/SG
- Steph woulda been my choice, if you picked KD.
RD2– Pick 22, CJ McCollum, PG/SG
- Great pick.
RD3– Pick 27, Marc Gasol, C
-Another great pick, I would argue BPA, but Draymond was still on the board.
RD4- Pick 46, Trevor Ariza, SF/PF
- A bit early, but safe pick.
RD5- Pick 51, Isaiah Thomas, PG
- Makes sense.. I mean, if he comes back before 2018, you got yourself a steal. I personally won't be touching him on draft day as of now.
RD6- Pick 70, Jrue Holiday, PG
- Good value pick! Finished at 52 last year, so even with Boogie being the new addition, I don't see him going down too much.
RD7- Pick 75, James Johnson, SF/PF
- RAWR! Sniped me RIGHT BEFORE MY PICK! In my head, during round 7, I was like "YES! no one's looking for James Johnson. WOOT!" And then bam.. you pick him, 1 pick before mine. I hope you have a healthy dose of bad luck in this year's draft, and in all future drafts!
RD8- Pick 94, Tim Hardway Jr, SG/SF
- Another great pick. He was my 2nd in queue after T.J. Warren.
RD9- Pick 99, Josh Richardson, SG/SF
- I remember you annoyed Erik with this pick haha. Good pick again.
RD10- Pick 118, Jabari Parker, SF/PF (Auto-picked, came late)
- Damn, this auto-pick messed up your great streak of picks.
RD11- Pick 123, Boban Marjanovic, C
- Good pick, however, I would say you coulda saved him for last pick. I don't think anyone else woulda picked him. Now, as a Spurs fan, I loved Boban's ridiculous per-36 numbers. He avged 21 pts, 14 rebs, 1.6 blks, 0.9 stls, on 60% on the floor and 76% from the line per 36! Holy jeebus. If he just gets another 10-13 more minutes to 21-24 mins a night, he'd be a beast. I'm definitely keeping an eye on him during draft, and during the year in the waivers.
RD12- Pick 142, Thon Maker, PF/C
- I don't like his potential, but he'll get his minutes. I'm just afraid Coach Kidd will be reluctant to play him more than Monroe, and Monroe has his share of playing time issues. Like, the same thing happened to John Henson.. The center position seems like a mess to me in Milwaukee. But this is late round, no biggie.
RD13- Pick 147, Norman Powell, SG/SF
- Don't like this pick either. He hasn't shown enough for me to be convinced on him. But again, it's a last round pick, so no biggie.
--------------------------------------
4. Team VS (Ball Don’t Lie) @lilxleftee
RD1– Pick 4, Kevin Durant, SF/PF
- After Giannis and KAT went #1 and #2 respectively, I knew I would get Steph or KD, both of whom I'd be satisfied with.
RD2– Pick 21, Paul George, SF/PF
- I made a slight mistake here because of what happened next on my team. I was thinking to grab Draymond and in hindsight, I probably should have instead of picking George, then proceed to look for a solid PG or C before I'm out of good choices. Instead, I opted to pick George thinking that he's the BPA, and amazingly, got Draymond at 28 as well. It looks good on paper, but now I have three SF/PF's with Durant, George, Draymond, and I'll have to wait 17 picks until I can get a shot at a good C or PG, which is unlikely. So if I had to do it over again, I would've picked Draymond at 21. Then George would've likely been off the board by 28, at which point, I would've probably picked Conley or Marc Gasol if available.
RD3– Pick 28, Draymond Green, SF/PF
- Read above. And Draymond at this point was hands down to me the BPA, despite how much I wanted Conley.
RD4- Pick 45, Eric Bledsoe, PG/SG
- Needed a solid PG, and Bledsoe looked like a great pickup, and arguably the BPA here.
RD5- Pick 52, Nikola Vucevic, PF/C
- Same as Bledsoe, this time I needed a solid C.
RD6- Pick 69, George Hill, PG/SG
- Was thinking of grabbing James Johnson, but I thought he'd still be available 7 picks later for my next pick. Plus, I also thought JJ at 69 seemed a bit too early and I already had 3 SF/PF's. So Hill made a lot of sense for me as a solid G in the Kings, where he may be the one really good player on the team.
RD7- Pick 76, Markieff Morris, SF/PF
- This was too early IMO, but I was just so flustered by Team Practice taking my pick of James Johnson, 1 pick before me. Perhaps in hindsight, I shoulda chose Brogdon here. Not sure honestly. Anyone can give me their thoughts here?
RD8- Pick 93, T.J. Warren, SF
- I thought this was a good value pick. He was insane in the last few months of last season, and also finished the season at 60.
RD9- Pick 100, Pau Gasol, C
- At this point, I felt like I had a fairly balanced team aside from FG%, 3s, and BLKs. I think this is a safe pick. He doesn't really hurt me, and I needed a C and he provides good FG%, some BLKs and 3's. Also, I can see Pau even cracking top 80 with Dewayne Dedmon and David Lee gone.
RD10- Pick 117, Tyler Johnson, PG/SG
- I honestly think he's super undervalued. Realistically though, I think he finishes in top 120, with an upside of top 80.
RD11- Pick 124, Dion Waiters, SG/SF
- Although I don't like his slightly high TOs and mediocre shooting percentages, I decided to give him a go simply because of some of his performances and hype from last season.
RD12- Pick 141, Ersan Ilyasova SF/PF
- I think Ilyasova's a good pick in the 12th round. Perhaps he can reproduce some of the numbers he had in Philly in the dead roster of the Hawks.
RD13- Pick 148, Kelly Olynyk, C
- I think Olynyk is a semi-sleeper. He should be getting more minutes on the Heat, but I don't expect him to be THAT good, just a bit better that can perhaps crack the top 100.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Prestige Worldwide @Jonathan
RD1– Pick 5, Kawhi Leonard, SG/SF
- BPA imo
RD2– Pick 20, Kyle Lowry, PG
- Another BPA.
RD3– Pick 29, Kevin Love, PF/C
- I'm sure you were gonna pick Draymond if I hadn't. Another potential BPA, with Conley arguably being the better choice here by only a few picks.
RD4- Pick 44, Ricky Rubio, PG
- Good safe pick.
RD5- Pick 53, Aaron Gordon, SF/PF
- This was too early for me. He definitely has the chance to reach top 50 with Ibaka gone, but not sure how good of a chance. I don't like his abysmal defensive numbers and also, his FG% could actually go down. Biggest reason I believe that is he attempted 3.3 three's last year, shooting at a horrible 29% (he's never even shot over 30% from 3's in all of his seasons) and his 3PA may increase even more this season. Also, he's been on the hype train ever since his rookie year, and even though the Orlando frontcourt rotational issues are likely fixed now, I personally wouldn't take him this early. Perhaps in top 70-75 seems more fitting to me.
RD6- Pick 68, Robert Covington, SF/PF
- He dropped a good amount in our draft, so this seems like a great value pick. I love his defensive numbers, and I honestly don't see it dropping down much at all this season.
RD7- Pick 77, Dennis Smith Jr, PG
- This is way too early. There's just too much we don't know about the Dallas rotation when it comes to the guards. I would be okay with Dennis Smith as a late rounder, but not in the midst of the middle rounds.
RD8- Pick 92, Brandon Ingram, SF/PF
- Not too fond of Ingram and his atrocious FT% and defensive numbers, and mediocre reb numbers for a Forward. Perhaps playing with Lonzo will get him better looks and a much higher FG% and more points.
RD9- Pick 101, Julius Randle, PF
- Hopefully he can bring his TO's down and provide some more defensive numbers and he'll definitely be top 90 at least.
RD10- Pick 116, Seth Curry, PG/SG
- Good pick here. I think in some drafts, he may go in the 90's, so this may turn out to be a good value pick. Like mentioned before on Dallas' guard rotation, I'm hesitant to believe in any of them. However, if I had to make a bet, I'm sure Seth should be one of the ones that stick out judging from the great showing he had late last season. So this is a good gamble pick IMO.
RD11- Pick 125, Greg Monroe, PF/C
- Needed a center, huh? I guess you can't go that wrong with Monroe at 125, but I just don't like the Bucks' center position. Kidd has been known to screw over the rotations in the past, and Monroe was one of the targets in past years.
RD12- Pick 140, Justise Winslow, SF/PF
- He played 29 MPG two years ago and he showed low value in almost every category, including his shooting percentages. Last year, he was on the path to repeat the same stats before being injured. I don't like this pick, but late rounds are late rounds.
RD13- Pick 149, Alan Williams, C
- Good last pick, might be able to beat out Alex Len for C.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Team Ex-YU @semasahc
RD1– Pick 6, Nikola Jokic, PF/C
- A bit earlier than where I would take him, but doesn't really matter too much.
RD2– Pick 19, Kemba Walker, PG
- A bit early again, but good pick.
RD3– Pick 30, Goran Dragic, PG/SG
- This one is too early IMO. I think he probably would've been around til at least pick 40. What was the reason you wanted Dragic?
RD4- Pick 43, Carmelo Anthony, SF/PF
- A bit early again. I see his ceiling being 45, at the very best. Mostly because I see year after year, his stats dropping slowly and/or just retaining his previous year stats. He finished 60 this past year, and has been on a downward trend ever since 2013. I would wait til around 65 to think about drafting him.
RD5- Pick 54, Clint Capela, PF/C
- A bit early, but.. I think his upside can be top 45, and he can get there with CP3 facilitating for Capela like he did for Griffin/Jordan on the Clippers, increasing his points and his already monstrous FG% closer to 66%. The biggest issue with him though is whether D'Antoni will play him long enough to accomplish all of that.
RD6- Pick 67, LaMarcus Aldridge, PF/C
- Good value pick, but I don't like LMA. It has nothing to do with his fantasy or stat numbers. I'm just an avid Spurs fan that despises him for his poor play during last season, especially during the playoffs. Anyway, at pick 67, picking up LMA is a good value pick.
RD7- Pick 78, Ben Simmons, SF/PF (Auto-pick, sleep 3 AM+)
- Some say he'll be rookie of the year, but I'm not convinced yet. There's just too many unknowns for Philly, so I won't be drafting him in my drafts. However, this was an auto-pick, so it's irrelevant.
RD8- Pick 91, Lou Williams, PG/SG (Auto-pick, sleep)
- Good pick at pick 91, good source of 3's.
RD9- Pick 101, Rajon Rondo, PG (Auto-pick, sleep)
- I'm biased for Rondo, but I'm not sure what to expect from him with his reunion with Cousins and how well he'll mesh in with the rest of the Pelicans. If all goes well, he can have another season like his 2015-2016 season with the Kings, albeit his TO's and FT% will be awful like expected.
RD10- Pick 115, DeMarre Carroll, SF/PF
- He might have some value, but his injury history scares me.
RD11- Pick 126, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, SF
- Finished 84 last year, so this pick looks good on paper, but again, his injury history scares me. But he did play 81 games last year, so it seems like arrows are pointing in the right direction.
RD12- Pick 139, Alex Len, PF/C
- I'm not sure if he'll get much minutes with Tyson Chandler around. Then there's also Alan Williams that can cut into his minutes too.
RD13- Pick 150, Wesley Matthews, SG/SF
- Good source of 3's, so if you need that, Wes seems like a good last rounder.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Roto Baggins @Jay
RD1– Pick 7, Anthony Davis, PF/C
- I personally woulda went with Russell Westbrook but I would need a coin flip to decide that between AD and Westbrook. I like AD and I think he's the BPA here, but I've just been burned by his injuries and locker room scares before, so I have a so-so impression of him.
RD2– Pick 18, Kyrie Irving, PG
- Good pick, arguably BPA with Lowry contesting it.
RD3– Pick 31, Bradley Beal, SG
- Like AD, I've been burned by him during his injury.. I personally will try not to draft him. But at 31, it seems like right where he belongs.
RD4- Pick 42, Serge Ibaka, PF/C
- Despite what Dan said about this pick, I like it. His numbers are safe so I don't think he hurts you that much. Also, if he can bring his BLKs up a bit, I can see him going up a few ranks.
RD5- Pick 55, LonZo Ball, PG
- Too early for me. But honestly, if you don't pick him around here, then you probably won't get him. I likely won't be drafting him unless he drops to 75 at least.
RD6- Pick 66, Thaddeus Young SF/PF
- Dan's favorite fantasy projection! I agree with him, and I think he's a good pick at 66. Great steals specialist, and although his FT% is awful, he barely shoots any to begin with.
RD7- Pick 79, Willy Hernangomez, C
- Was around the top 100 mark in the last 3 months of last season. I'm not sure how well he'll perform this season and not sure about this pick at 79.
RD8- Pick 90, Derrick Favors, PF/C
- I don't think he would've been picked til around 120+. Also, injury risk alert.
RD9- Pick 103, Steven Adams, C
- Good safe pick.
RD10- Pick 114, Zach LaVine, PG/SG
- There's reports he may come back earlier than expected. If he can come back soon, this is gonna be a huge steal. So at 114, I can see this being a justified pick.
RD11- Pick 127, Lauri Markkanen, PF
- This seems like a good insurance pick, in case LaVine doesn't come back early. Besides Dwyane Wade, I don't see how this squad produces, and I can see Hoiberg wanting to start the development of their newly acquired rookie right from the getgo.
RD12- Pick 138, Donovan Mitchell, SG
- A good rookie gamble in the late rounds. No problem with that.
RD13- Pick 151, Bam Adebayo, PF/C
- And another one for the last round. I watched Bam during the Summer League, and he was quite the player. Hopefully Coach Spo gives him a big window to play.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. Missing Remote @Avery
RD1– Pick 8, Russell Westbrook, PG
-BPA here IMO, even though I know you dislike the inefficiency he brings. I think a good pairing can help you overcome his FG%/TO's.
RD2– Pick 17, Jimmy Butler, SG/SF
- Unfortunately, Rasta Death March 'death marched' on the two bigs, and Aklan Archers reached a bit for Myles Turner, which prevented your pairing options. Well, still, I agree Butler was the BPA, so good pick here.
RD3– Pick 32, Mike Conley, PG
- I was eyeing Conley at my 28th pick, but I also had a BPA dilemma with Draymond being available. So if Draymond was gone by the 28th, Conley was gonna be my pick. Nice pick, and potential steal from me. And I agree with what you said.
RD4- Pick 41, Otto Porter, SF
- Agreed with everything you said. I might've even picked Otto here even without Westbrook on my team, since I figure Otto can't be dropping that far from last season's rank of 22. But having Westbrook made this pick that much better. Great pick.
RD5- Pick 56, Nerlens Noel, PF/C
- Early, but we Hoop Ballers love us some Noel.
RD6- Pick 65, Marquese Chriss, PF
- I would pick him 1-2 rounds later, around 78-90. I'm not sold on Marquese that much to pick him up at 65. But you wanted to gamble, and I think in terms of a gamble, this is a good coin flip pick at 65.
RD7- Pick 80, Danilo Gallinari, SF/PF
- Good value pick. He dropped quite a bit in our draft and this seems like an appropriate time to nab him.
RD8- Pick 89, Darren Collison, PG
- Not sold on Darren Collison because of his history on the Kings. However, in terms of looking for assists, I guess you had no choice here.
RD9- Pick 104, Allen Crabbe, SG
- Good pick.
RD10- Pick 113, Milos Teodosic PG
- Stole my last round pick. Didn't think anyone knew he even exists, honestly lol. I think in a real draft, I think you could afford to wait just a bit later before nabbing him. Good sleeper pick nonetheless.
RD11- Pick 128, Robin Lopez, C
- You did the same approach as me - Grabbed the C's late. RoLo is as boring as it gets, but we sometimes have to draft a Robin Lopez haha. But honestly, he should increase in numbers at least a slight, with Butler being gone and Zach LaVine potentially not playing til late in the year.
RD12- Pick 137, Tristan Thompson, C
- Same as RoLo.
RD13- Pick 152, Jaylen Brown, SG/SF
- Good upside, will definitely get more minutes. Let's see what he can do with the green light opportunity.
----------------------------------------------------------------
9. Aklan Archers @aklanarcher
RD1– Pick 9, James Harden, PG/SG
- Boy, I woulda hated to be pick 9 in this draft. I personally don't like Harden this year.. He's difficult to project for me. and if I was in your position, I might've picked CP3 instead of Harden just because CP3 has a really good track record of efficiency and doesn't really hurt you in anything.
RD2– Pick 16, Myles Turner, PF/C
- I would say you reached a bit here, but I can understand that you needed someone to pair with Harden.
RD3– Pick 33, Klay Thompson SG/SF
- Good safe pick.
RD4- Pick 40, DeMar DeRozan, SG/SF (Auto-picked, came late)
- Good safe pick.
RD5- Pick 57, Jusuf Nurkic, C
- If Vucevic was off the table, I would've went with Nurk first. He showed so much promise at the end of the last season, I think this was a good time to gamble on him.
RD6- Pick 64, D’Angelo Russell PG/SG
- Too early. I see his TO's skyrocketing to nearly 4 per game, and his FG% probably staying at the same or even worse at 40%. That's near punt status in my book. I think he's a lot like Dennis Schroder, and he's going overdrafted in many leagues.
RD7- Pick 81, Malcolm Brogdon, PG/SG
- Love this pick. ROY, no Jabari. Looks like he's poised to have a good season.
RD8- Pick 88, Willie Cauley-Stein, PF/C
- Another solid pick, good upside from WCS.
RD9- Pick 105, Dewayne Dedmon, C
- Good pick, upside is high with the empty Hawks.
RD10- Pick 112, Rodney Hood, SG/SF
- With Hayward gone, it looks like Ingles and Hood might be able to crack top 100.
RD11- Pick 129, Wilson Chandler SF/PF
- Not sure if he'll get enough minutes in Denver. Plus, Denver's working their future prospects this year, and even worse, Chandler was on the trading block a few times before. I'm not a fan of Wilson Chandler.
RD12- Pick 136, Patty Mills, PG
- Okay flier for late rounder.
RD13- Pick 153, Larry Nance Jr., PF
- As well as this one.

10. KINGSfan55 @KINGSfan55
RD1– Pick 10, LeBron James, SF/PF
- It's LeBron. I can't complain with it at Pick 10. He might actually have a strong boost in every category with IT out for the beginning of the season.
RD2– Pick 15, Damian Lillard, PG
- BPA
RD3– Pick 34, Andre Drummond, C
- Were you going with a FT punt? If yes, not sure why you were inclined to pick him as early as 34. I don't think anyone would touch him til at least 50. Then again, I'm not a punt guy, so I have no official opinion on this.
RD4- Pick 39, Blake Griffin, PF/C
- I've been burned by Blake quite a bit cause of his injury history. Even healthy, I'm not sure he'll break top 50 because of his lack of defensive numbers. I see his ceiling being top 40, so I think you priced him out.
RD5- Pick 58, Elfrid Payton, PG
- I think this is also Payton's ceiling, priced pick.
RD6- Pick 63, Nicolas Batum, SG/SF
- Good pick.
RD7- Pick 82, Jeremy Lin, SG/PG
- Solid pick. I think as long as he's able to be healthy, he could be top 70.
RD8- Pick 87, Dwayne Wade, SG
- Literally the only Bulls player with some guaranteed high value. LaVine not playing in the beginning is gonna help Wade's value that much more. Good pick.
RD9- Pick 106, Kent Bazemore, SG/SF
- Great gamble pick.
RD10- Pick 111, Skal Labissiere, PF/C
- If he gets the minutes, he should be able to provide good value. I would've waited a bit later to pick him, but anything over pick 100 is pretty much anything goes, for the most part.
RD11- Pick 130, Buddy Hield, SG
- The Kings didn't give away Cousins for no reason. I'm sure Hield's gonna be one of the focal points, so this is good pick at 130.
RD12- Pick 135, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, SF/PF
- Late round potential.
RD13- Pick 154, Enes Kanter, C
- Kanter as well.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll skip Erik's team since he's too sexy for me.
11. Team Hoop-Ball @ErikOng
RD1– Pick 11, John Wall, PG
RD2– Pick 14, Chris Paul, PG
RD3– Pick 35, Al Horford, PF/C
RD4- Pick 38, Brook Lopez, C
RD5- Pick 59, Avery Bradley, PG/SG
RD6- Pick 62, Jae Crowder, SF/PF
RD7- Pick 83, Patrick Beverley, PG
RD8- Pick 86, Gorgui Dieng, PF/C
RD9- Pick 107, Joe Ingles, SG/SF
RD10- Pick 110, Nikola Mirotic, SF/PF
RD11- Pick 131, Maurice Harkless, SF
RD12- Pick 134, Jayson Tatum, SF
RD13- Pick 155, Terrence Ross, SG/SF
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
12. Rasta Death March @Jim
RD1– Pick 12, DeMarcus Cousins, PF/C
- Love the back-to-back picks at 12 and 13. You kinda screwed Erik with this, as I'm sure he was eyeing one of these guys for his next pick. I think you also screwed over others too that were probably planning on pairing up.
RD2– Pick 13, Rudy Gobert, C
- See above.
RD3– Pick 36, Paul Millsap PF/C
- Looks like we're going heavy on the PF's & C's. Possibly punting?
RD4- Pick 37, Gordon Hayward, SG/SF
- Good, solid pick for Hayward at 37.
RD5- Pick 60, Taurean Prince, SF
- This was way too early. What was the reason why you chose him at 60, and not like around at least 90?
RD6- Pick 61, Harrison Barnes, SF/PF
- Too early. 75 seems more fitting since he seems to be very limited in fantasy.
RD7- Pick 84, Andrew Wiggins, SG/SF
- Too early. He was ranked 117 last season. With Butler added to the team, I think he might finish even worse.
RD8- Pick 85, Dwight Howard, C
- Punt pick.
RD9- Pick 108, Reggie Jackson PG
- Not sure about his health.
RD10- Pick 109, Richaun Holmes PF/C
- Very good pick here. I'm not a believer in Embiid being healthy, so I think Holmes has a great chance of producing numbers like he did late last season.
RD11- Pick 132, Dirk Nowitzki, PF/C
- I honestly think Dirk's done. Not sure how to project him though.
RD12- Pick 133, Rudy Gay, SF/PF
- Good choice in these late rounds.
RD13- Pick 156, Eric Gordon, SG
- Auto-picked, but honestly a good value as the last pick of the draft.

Wow.. writing for 5 hours lol I'm spent. I hope people can break down my team as well, and please be as honest as you can be. It'll help more than it hurts if we can learn as much as we can. Oh yea, I forgot to mention - I think the best drafted teams were We talking about Practice?, Missing Remote, and Team Hoop-Ball, in no particular order. I didn't think about that too hard, just glanced back at the teams so it's nothing too serious to consider. Alright, time to take a nap...
Damn, that's some serious work!
You know where you can find my feedback 😉
Hello!
First of all, after reading through the previous analyses already posted in this thread, I'd say not only are you all a bunch of well-informed fantasy drafters, even your understanding, and assessment of ADP is in the right place.
You all gave me a run for my money. I think I've said it in one of the draft threads already but I will say it again, here, "I'm glad that is is just a "mock" and not a real draft"
The whole purpose of the event, when I proposed it to Aaron, is to a.) give our a community an enhanced platform to interact b.) to gauge your ball-park assessments on where players "should" go. The drafters went above and beyond and showed that they definitely know their fantasy. Believe it or not, I can picture Dan's pod episodes, and my posts clear as day where we mentioned and explained our thoughts on player "X" as he was falling off our mock draft board.
I echo what Aaron already said. You/We are going to kill our drafts in leagues where we are competing against people who are not as well versed in "Hoop-Ball" analysis.
Thanks again for your patience, support. That kick-off activity was the lightning bolt that breathed life into these forums and from what I've read over the last week, we have a fun and smart community. Let's keep it up by freely and comfortably sharing stuff in this safe environment.
