In my 8-cat there’s a 2 round penalty, having a hard time deciding lol. Can keep 3 of the following:
Donovan Mitchell (would cost my 7th rd pick).
Pascal Siakam (for my 9th)
John Collins (for my 9th...or 8th if I keep Pascal too)
Mitchell Robinson (for my 11th rd).
Tricky right? Anyways, any input is appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Very tough!!! I would let Mitch Rob go very reluctantly!
I feel like that’s the safer play but I keep reading ppl here and there that feel like Robinson could produce at close to a 1st round value this year...idunno if I agree tho. NY has some other skilled bigs now..what if Portis becomes a fan-favourite or if Randle lights it up and coach can’t keep him off the floor? Just could see it happening...
I think Pascal and Collins are probably IN (the value against their ADP is nuts at those spots). Donovan vs. Mitchell, and in 8-cat, you probably have to keep Donovan. Man, that's a tough last call, though. Mitch in the 11th is crazy.
I would keep the bottom three. It's also about the GAP of value they're projected to deliver AND the round you're paying for them.
Your first to seventh rounds of drafting should still be able to still get very good value comparable to Mitchell. The principle here is also the length of time you can afford to keep a guy. So, if Robinson erupts LATE this year, you can keep him for 2020-21 at 9th round!!!
Thanks so much for weighing-in Dan! I def value your opinion. Thankfully I feel like I can’t really make a wrong choice... they all should be ok choices but it still gonna bug me if I have to watch one of em go off on another team hah.
Thankfully I don’t have to decide for another week or so, so I will watch Collins’ hip-injury closely and maybe watch the minutes-distribution in NY during the preseason games and gain some more insight to help me choose...
I had the same thoughts too Eric...so conflicted lol!
Given its a keeper league i think you need to look further ahead and take Robinson on future opportunity.
Its so close between robinson and donovan form 2019 that i think 2020 tips it in robinsons favour.
Assuming you keep guys at draft -1 round, you get...
2019:
Donovan 7th round.
Robinson 11th round.
2020:
Donovan 6th rnd
Robinson 10th rn (he's only getting more minutes going forward.)
You can find other replacements for Donovan Mitchell in your first 6 rounds. You cant find someone who will win you blocks on their own.
