Fantasy Matchups vs Top and Bottom Opposing Playoff Defenses

  • Fantasy Playoff Matchups Vs. Avg Opposing Defense Points Scored 2023

We have now gone into strength of record vs. opposing defenses for 2024, today we are doing a little look back. We will look at the average points that the fantasy defenses teams are facing scored during the playoff weeks of 2023.

    Strongest:

    1. Miami Dolphins – Avg. 11.11 FPPG in 2023

As we had already alluded to in our strength of schedule piece, the Dolphins have a tough fantasy playoff schedule and the three defenses they will face averaged 11.11 fantasy points per game during last year’s playoff weeks. That’s an extraordinarily high number when you’ll normally be happy if a defense can get you 6-8 points. The good news for the Dolphins is that two of their three matchups are either indoors or at home, the better news is it’s the first two matchups and you can’t get to a championship without winning a couple of rounds. While it’s not unfair to proceed with caution, you can still proceed with Dolphins players you may have here.

    1. Kansas City Chiefs  Avg 10.67 FPPG in 2023

While this is also an extraordinarily high number, combined with some very quirky scheduling due to being featured in a Wednesday Christmas Day game, the Chiefs are still matchup proof. One would expect the Chiefs offense to take a gigantic step forward after probably the most difficult season of the Patrick Mahomes era. The Chiefs still return Travis Kelce and Isaiah Pacheco, now they welcome Hollywood Brown and Xavier Worthy into the fold. Rashee Rice will likely be available by this point despite some of his off field situations, as most supplemental discipline handed out in the NFL doesn’t usually exceed three games. The Chiefs will deal with the Browns, Texans, and Steelers during this stretch. That means they get their hands full with two elite pass rushers in Myles Garrett and TJ Watt, and one that’s on the rise in Will Anderson. Still, there’s no reason not to have confidence in Andy Reid, Mahomes, and the rest of the Kansas City offense figuring it out and putting up points.
