Hi everybody! I’m going to try to keep this short and sweet AGAIN this week as we have about 1 million things going on around here but because the team over here at SportsEthos has been so amazing, I’ve been able to put together a 24-month stretch of health for the ages. After having a rib surgically removed to address compressed nerves underneath my collarbone, which brought me to a place where I couldn’t sit, stand or type, in coordination with a crazy rehab and PT program, I’ve been able to heal my body enough to write and produce more premium content for our FantasyPass.
So, I’m going to be providing weekly waiver wire analysis on Mondays and also opening up my twitter feed for questions on a limited basis (on Mondays as well) and then opening it up for premium members after that in our discord server.
Anyway, without further ado let’s start digging out some diamonds
Outside of the paywall, here are FIVE PLAYERS from my TOP TEN WAIVER WIRE pickups from 200 player high stakes leagues (8-cat Roto), and then NBA FantasyPass subscribers get the rest (25 TOTAL PLAYS)

Collin GillespiePG, Phoenix SunsSeason Team GP GS MPG FGM FGA FG% FTM FTA FT% 3PTM 3PTA 3PT% PTS REB AST STL BLK TO 25-26 PHO 10 0 24.9 3.6 9.2 39.1 0.6 0.9 66.7 2.6 6.8 38.2 10.4 3.9 5.3 1.1 0.6 1.4 24-25 PHO 33 9 14.0 2.1 4.8 43.0 0.6 0.7 86.4 1.2 2.7 43.3 5.9 2.4 2.4 0.6 0.2 0.5 (1) Last week’s top waiver wire pickup hit again this week but not with spectacular stats, as the lull we predicted with Jalen Green returning hit. The headline isn’t that Green got injured and boosted Gillespie‘s value, but rather that both Gillespie and the team have been staunchly committed to playing him and at the same time he has outright delivered. Even if Green hadn’t been hurt this train was rolling anyway to the tune of top 90-100 value in 24.9 MPG on the measurements that’s low because of said lull. He defends well and is an offensive engine so the arrow is pointing up from this already lofty territory.
Royce O'NealePF, Phoenix SunsSeason Team GP GS MPG FGM FGA FG% FTM FTA FT% 3PTM 3PTA 3PT% PTS REB AST STL BLK TO 25-26 PHO 10 6 31.5 4.4 9.7 45.4 0.2 0.4 50.0 3.6 8.3 43.4 12.6 5.7 3.3 1.5 0.1 1.7 24-25 PHO 75 22 24.5 3.2 7.6 42.3 0.3 0.3 73.1 2.4 5.9 40.6 9.1 4.7 2.2 0.9 0.5 0.9 23-24 PHO 79 14 24.7 2.7 6.8 39.7 0.3 0.4 68.6 2.0 5.3 37.0 7.7 4.8 2.8 0.7 0.6 0.9 (2) O’Neale just keeps flying underneath the radar despite a top 65 season in which everybody is falling apart around him and he’s the consistency guy. He should probably be ranked above Gillespie but the upside potential for Gillespie and stat set are a little harder to come across on the waiver wire and it’s certainly possible that we are at the high water mark for O’Neale on the season.
Jake LaRaviaPF, Los Angeles LakersSeason Team GP GS MPG FGM FGA FG% FTM FTA FT% 3PTM 3PTA 3PT% PTS REB AST STL BLK TO 25-26 LAL 10 5 29.7 4.5 8.1 55.6 1.8 3.0 60.0 1.4 3.4 41.2 12.2 5.2 2.7 1.5 0.2 1.4 24-25 SAC 66 0 20.4 2.4 5.1 47.5 1.2 1.7 67.8 0.9 2.2 42.3 6.9 3.9 2.4 0.9 0.3 1.3 23-24 MEM 35 6 23.0 3.4 8.7 38.9 2.6 3.1 82.6 1.5 4.5 34.0 10.8 3.7 1.7 0.8 0.3 1.3 (4) LaRavia is sitting on a top 65-75 week basketball with 14 points, one triple, six rebounds, three assist, 2.3 steals, 0.3 blocks on 56.4% from the field and 69.2% from the foul line on 3.3 foul shots per game and all of this in 33 minutes per contest over the last four games. Yes, there is a big test when Lebron returns and especially if the team plays at full strength, but the stories coming out of Los Angeles about JJ Redick recruiting him speak to how real basketball folks completely understand how good LaRavia is – perhaps the free-agent pickup of the summer given the low cost.
Jusuf NurkićC, Utah JazzSeason Team GP GS MPG FGM FGA FG% FTM FTA FT% 3PTM 3PTA 3PT% PTS REB AST STL BLK TO 25-26 UTA 9 4 21.2 2.7 7.1 37.5 1.3 2.0 66.7 0.2 2.0 11.1 6.9 8.8 3.0 1.6 0.4 2.7 24-25 CHA 51 32 20.8 3.3 6.9 47.7 1.7 2.5 66.4 0.6 2.1 30.5 8.9 7.8 2.3 0.8 0.7 1.9 23-24 PHO 76 76 27.3 4.2 8.3 51.0 2.2 3.4 64.0 0.3 1.2 24.4 10.9 11.0 4.0 1.1 1.1 2.3 (5) A lot of folks went huge with FAAB bids (up to $400 out of $1,000) and yes Nurkic has a starting center job nailed down but underneath the hood there are problems. Namely, he’s hanging around the bottom of the top 150 on the season on 21.3 MPG and doesn’t exactly project well for more minutes over the course of a long season. Of course an add should be made here for anybody needing a center, but the expectation should be top-100 play with an expiration date pretty much any time when he falls apart.
Moses MoodySG, Golden State WarriorsSeason Team GP GS MPG FGM FGA FG% FTM FTA FT% 3PTM 3PTA 3PT% PTS REB AST STL BLK TO 25-26 GS 9 2 22.9 3.6 8.6 41.6 2.0 2.4 81.8 2.7 6.2 42.9 11.8 2.9 1.7 0.9 1.0 1.2 24-25 GS 74 34 22.3 3.3 7.7 43.3 1.4 1.8 79.7 1.7 4.6 37.4 9.8 2.6 1.3 0.8 0.4 0.7 23-24 GS 66 9 17.5 2.9 6.4 46.2 1.1 1.4 78.5 1.1 3.0 36.0 8.1 3.0 0.9 0.6 0.4 0.7 (10) Moody is just outside the top 100 in 23 MPG with 4.7 cash counters to go with reasonable (but a little bit high) percentages, 12 points and 2.7 triples. The defensive numbers are 60 to 70% up over prior years. Steph Curry returns soon so the target goal here should be late round value but we might be seeing a player earn a consistent role that heads towards top 100 production the rest of the way.
NOW, THE REMAINING FIVE FROM THE TOP TEN AND THE REST OF OUR PICKUPS (Waiver Wire Rank in Parenthesis)
