• Hi everybody! I’m going to try to keep this short and sweet AGAIN this week as we have about 1 million things going on around here but because the team over here at SportsEthos has been so amazing, I’ve been able to put together a 24-month stretch of health for the ages. After having a rib surgically removed to address compressed nerves underneath my collarbone, which brought me to a place where I couldn’t sit, stand or type, in coordination with a crazy rehab and PT program, I’ve been able to heal my body enough to write and produce more premium content for our FantasyPass.

So, I’m going to be providing weekly waiver wire analysis on Mondays and also opening up my twitter feed for questions on a limited basis (on Mondays as well) and then opening it up for premium members after that in our discord server.

Anyway, without further ado let’s start digging out some diamonds

Outside of the paywall, here are FIVE PLAYERS from my TOP TEN WAIVER WIRE pickups from 200 player high stakes leagues (8-cat Roto), and then NBA FantasyPass subscribers get the rest. (Waiver Wire Rank in Parenthesis)

    Ryan Rollins
    SG, Milwaukee Bucks
    SeasonTeamGPGSMPG FGMFGAFG% FTMFTAFT% 3PTM3PTA3PT% PTSREBAST STLBLKTO
    25-26 MIL 7 6 31.4 6.4 12.0 53.6 2.1 2.6 83.3 2.0 4.9 41.2 17.0 3.9 5.7 2.1 0.1 2.9
    24-25 MIL 56 19 14.6 2.4 4.8 48.7 0.6 0.8 80.0 0.9 2.1 40.8 6.2 1.9 1.9 0.8 0.3 0.9
    23-24 MIL 13 0 6.0 1.1 2.1 51.9 1.0 1.3 76.5 0.2 0.3 75.0 3.4 1.0 1.1 0.8 0.2 0.6

    (2) This is more of a shallow league if you had been under a rock kind of a listing. Rollins is sitting on a top 20-25 start with 32 mpg, 18.2 points, two triples, 3.7 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 2.3 steals and 53.9% shooting from the field and 88.2% foul shooting with just 2.2 turnovers per game.

Obviously the efficiencies are going to slide and especially if everything goes to hell in Milwaukee, which hasn’t been the case early on though Giannis missed a game to remind us of his ever present knee issues. We can all worry about Kevin Porter in a month or so when he returns. So everybody loves Ryan Rollins and for good reason but even though he’s probably not available in your league he’s not actually my top waiver wire pickup. That one won’t be surprising but it’s also behind the pay wall…

    Aaron Nesmith
    PF, Indiana Pacers
    SeasonTeamGPGSMPG FGMFGAFG% FTMFTAFT% 3PTM3PTA3PT% PTSREBAST STLBLKTO
    25-26 IND 7 7 32.0 4.7 13.9 34.0 2.4 3.4 70.8 2.9 8.3 34.5 14.7 4.9 1.0 0.3 0.3 0.6
    24-25 IND 45 37 25.0 4.3 8.4 50.7 1.6 1.8 91.2 1.9 4.3 43.1 12.0 4.0 1.2 0.8 0.4 0.8
    23-24 IND 72 47 27.7 4.4 8.8 49.6 1.5 1.9 78.1 1.9 4.6 41.9 12.2 3.8 1.5 0.9 0.7 0.9

    (3) Nesmith finally got loose after averaging something like 20% from the field and from the line to start the season, scoring 31 points last time out with five triples, six rebounds and hitting 52.6% of the shots from the field and all six of his free throws. The Pacers are going to struggle with efficiency until they get their guards back and that should happen in succession throughout the month.

When Nesmith is going good he can flirt with top 75 play in 9-cat formats and that is difficult to find on the waiver wire. And while I find him to be one of the top defenders in the league and one of the most underrated players in the league, the thing to watch for is that Indiana has enough playmaking on the floor to keep everybody’s efficiencies from going in the tank.

    Josh Minott
    PF, Boston Celtics
    SeasonTeamGPGSMPG FGMFGAFG% FTMFTAFT% 3PTM3PTA3PT% PTSREBAST STLBLKTO
    25-26 BOS 7 5 20.9 2.6 6.4 40.0 1.4 1.9 76.9 0.9 3.1 27.3 7.4 6.7 1.7 1.3 0.6 0.4
    24-25 MIN 46 0 6.0 1.0 2.0 48.9 0.4 0.4 89.5 0.3 0.9 32.6 2.6 1.0 0.4 0.3 0.3 0.2
    23-24 MIN 32 0 2.8 0.5 1.1 47.2 0.4 0.4 85.7 0.1 0.3 40.0 1.6 0.5 0.3 0.2 0.2 0.1

    (6) Obviously, I love Minott and had him ranked highly in the B150 (113/109, ADP: Barely Drafted). I would have him higher in this list if I wasn’t still concerned that Joe Mazzulla is going to zigzag the rotation for much of the season. Where this add – and I do think he is a must roster player outside of weird shallow formats – really sings is if that musical chairs simply stop and Minott gets 30 MPG.

    Jarace Walker
    PF, Indiana Pacers
    SeasonTeamGPGSMPG FGMFGAFG% FTMFTAFT% 3PTM3PTA3PT% PTSREBAST STLBLKTO
    25-26 IND 7 4 30.7 4.3 12.6 34.1 1.6 2.1 73.3 2.0 6.4 31.1 12.1 6.3 4.1 0.6 0.4 1.9
    24-25 IND 75 5 15.8 2.3 4.8 47.2 0.6 0.9 66.7 1.0 2.5 40.5 6.1 3.1 1.5 0.7 0.3 1.0
    23-24 IND 33 0 10.3 1.4 3.3 40.9 0.2 0.3 88.9 0.7 1.7 40.0 3.6 1.9 1.2 0.5 0.3 0.5

    (8) Walker has been a little bit better this week with top 115-135 value, scoring 14 points with just under three triples, six rebounds, four assists, one steal and 81.8% from the foul line on 3.7 attempts, but the 31.7% shooting from the field on 14 attempts is really killing him. On the season it has kept him toward the bottom of the top 200.

I think in a best-case scenario Walker can be a top 75 player but once Indiana can get some of their guards back, I would like to see him in the top 100-125 range. The efficiency for the entire team is going to be terrible until then and if Walker can simply hang on as a late round value to me that’s a win. He has a good long-term profile and if you are punting his deficiencies things get even better.

    Jake LaRavia
    PF, Los Angeles Lakers
    SeasonTeamGPGSMPG FGMFGAFG% FTMFTAFT% 3PTM3PTA3PT% PTSREBAST STLBLKTO
    25-26 LAL 7 2 28.6 4.7 7.9 60.0 1.7 3.0 57.1 1.7 3.4 50.0 12.9 5.1 2.6 1.4 0.1 1.3
    24-25 SAC 66 0 20.4 2.4 5.1 47.5 1.2 1.7 67.8 0.9 2.2 42.3 6.9 3.9 2.4 0.9 0.3 1.3
    23-24 MEM 35 6 23.0 3.4 8.7 38.9 2.6 3.1 82.6 1.5 4.5 34.0 10.8 3.7 1.7 0.8 0.3 1.3

    (9) I had LaRavia ranked inside the top 100 of B150 but it’s worth noting that I don’t think he can climb much higher than that so this is a fairly low upside player even in the best of scenarios. I do believe he is one of the key elements for to be good this season as they need to elevate his role as a connector to avoid becoming a take turns offense. Defensively, he is as good as most players in the league at his position. Questionable defensive numbers and bad foul shooting hurt the eval here.
