Week 6 Injury Roundup

  • Kyler Murray – Cardinals – Foot

Murray suffered the foot injury in the Cardinals’ Week 5 loss to the Titans. He popped up on the injury report during practice last week and ultimately missed Sunday’s game against the Colts. Jacoby Brissett stepped in as the starter and played extremely well, if Murray were to miss any more games, there are still quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers, Sam Darnold, and Bryce Young available on the waiver wire.

Puka Nacua – Rams – Ankle

Puka Nacua suffered a sprained ankle that will cause him to miss an unspecified amount of time. This is obviously a major loss for the Rams and fantasy fans alike as Nacua as he was on pace to set the single season record for receptions. Davante Adams slides into the number one wideout role but with him rostered, look to Tutu Atwell to take on the WR2 duties and could be a good waiver wire add as he’s scored 23 fantasy points in his last 2 games played.

Emeka Egbuka – Buccaneers – Hamstring

Egbuka suffered a hamstring injury early in the Buccaneers’ win over the 49ers, left the game and did not return. He is expected to miss time but it will not be determined how much until he undergoes further testing. With all of the Buccaneers’ top wideouts out, look to Sterling Shepard and Tez Johnson to take on the top two wideout duties and they will have value with Baker Mayfield playing at an MVP level and a couple of favorable matchups with a beat up Lions secondary and the Saints.

Calvin Ridley – Titans – Hamstring

Ridley suffered a hamstring injury in the Titans’ Week 6 loss to the Raiders. He left the game and did not return because he was unable to run. Due to the coaching change in Titans organization, there was no update on Ridley’s status at the time of publishing but it is presumed he will miss some time. This will likely elevate rookie Elic Ayomanor to top wideout duties while veteran Tyler Lockett will take over as the number two. Ayomanor is only 46 percent rostered in sleeper leagues and could be used as low end WR2 or FLEX for now.

    Jauan Jennings – 49ers – Ribs, Ankle

Jennings has been playing through high and low ankle sprains and broken ribs. At this point it’s not expected that he will miss any further time but it definitely tracks for his reduction in targets. In the meantime, Kendrick Bourne has been Mac Jones’ go to guy with Jennings banged up and Ricky Pearsall out with a knee injury. If that continues to be the case, pick up Bourne who should also be aided by the return of George Kittle on Sunday night when the 49ers take on the Falcons.

Marvin Harrison Jr. – Cardinals – Concussion

Marvin Harrison Jr. suffered a concussion early in the Cardinals’ loss to the Colts on Sunday and is currently in the league’s concussion protocol. It will be a situation to monitor throughout the week but if he is unable to go, Michael Wilson, Greg Dortch, and Zay Jones will all have elevated roles to help alleviate some pressure on Trey McBride. Jones led the team in targets after Harrison left the game with eight, but the Cardinals also used backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett in that game. There are a number of moving parts in this situation and it’s one to not rush to until there’s some more clarity surrounding Harrison’s status as well as the status of Kyler murray.

Garrett Wilson – Jets – Knee

Wilson suffered a hyperextended knee in the Jets’ overseas loss to the Broncos and is expected to miss a couple of weeks. The Jets play in Weeks 7 and 8 before their bye in Week 9 so presumably Wilson will miss those games and target a week 10 return. In the meantime there isn’t a consistent other wide receiver on their roster so it may be time to zag to a tight end and add Mason Taylor. He’s put up at least 9 fantasy points and had at least 7 targets in 2 of the last 3 games.

DJ Moore – Bears – Undisclosed

DJ Moore spent the night in the hospital for an undisclosed condition so it is not yet known if he will be able to play on Sunday against the Saints. If not, look for Olamide Zaccheaus and Luther Burden III to see increased roles alongside Rome Odunze. The touted rookie Burden is only 25% rostered in sleeper leagues and was seeing 2-4 targets per game prior to Moore’s situation. That number could surely increase if Moore misses any time while Zaccheus is a solid third down receiver who’s had at least 5 targets in 4 of the Bears’ 5 games so far and is only 2% rostered in sleeper leagues.

David Njoku – Browns – Knee

Njoku suffered a knee injury in the Browns’ loss to the Steelers on Sunday and it is uncertain if he will play or not on Sunday. If not, Harold Fannin Jr. will step into top tight end spot and is someone who has become more available in recent weeks after being a trendy waiver wire pickup just a few weeks ago. He is currently only 49% rostered in sleeper leagues and could be a priority add for Dillon Gabriel this weekend against a Dolphins defense that has struggled against the pass.
