Week 11 Injury Roundup

  • For the second consecutive week, it was a rather light one for injuries. Most injuries were not considered serious and we even have some players on their way back. Just a clarification for these reports, we report on players who left and did not return to their specific game from the prior week, or players who pop up on their team’s injury report at the time of posting.

    Quarterback

    Brock Purdy – Shoulder –

Purdy wound up on the injury report on Monday due to shoulder soreness. While this situation is not likely going to cause him to miss any time it is a situation to monitor. The 49ers are in a place with absolutely no margin for error but Purdy also has a pair of difficult road matchups coming up with the Packers and Bills. Even with Christian McCaffrey back he holds QB2 value at the moment due to the matchups and impending weather so it wouldn’t hurt to look for other options.

    Running Back

MarShawn Lloyd – Packers- multiple injuries

The Packers announced today that they have activated rookie MarShawn Lloyd off short term injured reserve. Lloyd has dealt with a number of injuries since training camp, including his hip, hamstring, and ankle. He most recently is coming off appendicitis and while his status for Sunday is uncertain, he could be a great stash for the fantasy stretch run as he will likely slot in as the RB2 behind Josh Jacobs.

Tyjae Spears – Titans – Concussion

Spears suffered a concussion in Week 11 against the Vikings and is currently in the league’s protocol. Spears is the clear second option behind Tony Pollard in Tennessee’s backfield, so if he’s unable to go, at this point, you’re using your bench or digging deep into the waiver wire for running back help.

    Alexander Mattison- Raiders- Ankle

Mattison injured his ankle in the Raiders’ Week 11 loss to the Dolphins. He was unable to return to the game and there is talk that he could miss multiple weeks. Mattison has taken over primary running back duties in Vegas but if he were to miss time, Zamir White would be next in line. However…

Zamir White – Raiders – Quad

White also went down in Week 11. He is dealing with a quad strain and that would leave the Silver and Black insanely thin at the running back position. In line after white would be Ameer Abdullah and after that Dylan Laube. Neither has any more than Flex fantasy value, it never hurts to pick one of them up though and hope for the best if you’re in a pinch.

    Wide Receiver

Darnell Mooney – Falcons – Hamstring

Mooney injured his hamstring in the Falcons’ Week 11 blowout loss to the Broncos. Initial word is the team does not believe that the injury is serious and Mooney is day to day at this point. The better news for fantasy managers is that the Falcons are on a bye this week so he would not be in lineups anyway. It’s something to monitor when the Falcons return to action in Week 12. He’s been a solid fantasy WR2/Flex play all season and fantasy managers would love to have him for the stretch run and beyond.

Gabe Davis – Jaguars – Knee

Davis tore his meniscus in the Jaguars blowout loss to the Lions and will miss the remainder of the year. The Jaguars have been one of the most impacted fantasy value teams in the league this season due to injury, especially at the wide receiver position. With Davis and Christian Kirk both sidelined for the year, even more of a target share should go to Brian Thomas Jr. After him, it’s Parker Washington and Tim Jones who will take over WR2 and 3 duties. With Mac Jones at quarterback, Thomas Jr. is the only one with any real fantasy value. Washington and Jones could be a Flex play in a pinch. The Jaguars are one of six teams on a bye this week, and there will be no byes in Week 14, however, six more will hit their bye in Week 14 including the Ravens, Texans, and Commanders so if there was a time to deploy those two, it would be then.
