Brazil, one of the most successful women’s football teams in Olympic history, is in the semi-finals for the sixth time. Although they needed the best third-place finish to advance from the group stage this time, they reminded everyone of their prowess by knocking out host France in the quarter-finals.

Unfortunately, 38-year-old legendary striker Marta will miss this match due to suspension. Spain, who defeated Brazil 2-0 in the group stage, scored only one of their seven tournament goals in the first half. Their remarkable comeback and 120-minute fight against Colombia in the quarter-finals will inevitably take a toll, both mentally and physically.

Brazil wants to give their 116-goal legend Marta the chance to play in at least one last final. We can expect a tight and intense battle, much like their group stage encounter. I anticipate more goals in the second half of this exciting affair.
