Despite spending 141 million euros on transfers, Atlético Madrid started the season with defensive errors. Although defense was their biggest issue the previous season and in the first match, they spent 107 million on two forwards, leaving the center-back position to Witsel once again. Girona, on the other hand, lost 4-5 key players but still managed to show glimpses of last season’s form in their away game against Real Betis. The coach has established a strong system and has made transfers accordingly, and their upcoming participation in the Champions League should provide all the motivation they need. Atlético Madrid’s defensive weaknesses make it hard to fully trust them. Even if they win, they are likely to concede a goal.
