RJ BarrettSF, New York KnicksAdrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Knicks are finalizing a five-year deal with Tom Thibodeau to make him the team's next head coach.
After other outlets reported that Jason Kidd was now the frontrunner after Thibodeau's contract talks stalled, such notions have been revealed to be leverage plays. It has always seemed like fait accompli that Thiobdeau would be New York's next bench boss and the two sides appear to have moved past their impasse. Things got very messy at the end of Thibs' tenure in Minnesota and it remains to be seen if the game has truly passed him by, but he should be able to help the Knicks improve as a defensive unit if nothing else. You can expect some heavy workloads from the core Knicks next season, too.
