there is a debate in my league: a team has KAT and is considering dropping him to survive in playoffs. Others are arguing that no one could claim Towns because that would break the league (in a case that he comes back for playoffs). What is your take on this?

Nah, he's fair game. He's out for probably another few weeks so teams will have to weigh whether they can take the risk. Perfectly reasonable set of events and another reason why being at the TOP during the regular season matters because you can afford to make interesting stashes.
