This is a Yahoo Pro League with $100 Buy-in drafted on 10/09/17. The league settings are very 'vanilla', and it's nothing out of the ordinary. There's also 2 IR slots.

Besides the 1st round, I won't be listing every pick in the draft as that seems redundant with the great list of draft result posts that others have already posted, but rather, I'll choose out the abnormal/interesting/off-ADP picks. If I don't bring up a player, it's most likely because they were picked at near their ADP. The later rounds are more interesting anyhow. My team is listed on the bottom of this post. (There's a overall TL;DR at the bottom if you want a quick overall)

Round 1:
1. Giannis
2. KD
3. Steph
4. Harden
5. Westbrook
6. KAT
7. AD
8. Jokic
9. Kawhi
10. Wall
11. Kyrie
12. Dame

Kawhi is sliding quite a bit cause of the injury news. I've seen Wall at 10 before, but Kyrie at 11? That was quite strange - Just to note, the same GM picked LeBron James at 14.

-----------------------------------

Round 2:
16. CP3

Everything else in the 2nd round seemed more or less normal. I just can't believe CP3 is going at 16 in 9 cat. Had he slid 2 more picks, I would have had him at 19, and would've had KAT + CP3 for my first 2 picks. Just to note, this GM also got Kawhi at 9 in the first round. Kawhi + CP3.. That's some value for 9 cat! Jokic is another candidate to drop into the 2nd round. I've seen him drop to as late as 19 in mocks.

-----------------------------------

Round 3:

32. Embiid
34. Blake Griffin

Just for the curious, Embiid at 32. I like Blake, despite what the B150 might say.. but 34 still seems too early. I have him 45 at best.

-----------------------------------

Round 4:

37. Otto Porter
46. Carmelo Anthony
48. Devin Booker

I was targeting Otto, but he got a bit more respect in our draft and someone else nabbed him. Carmelo seems to consistently go at around his ADP range for Yahoo, as well as Devin Booker.

-----------------------------------

Round 5:

49. D'Angelo Russell
54. Gary Harris
58. Ben Simmons
59. Andrew Wiggins

D'Angelo has been going top 50 many times in mocks I've been in, although his ADP hovers around 65. Gary Harris was my pick and I had already decided I was gonna target him in the 5th round. He's been going 50-60 in many mocks I've been in. I expected both Simmons and Wiggins to have a drop eventually, but they're still consistently going at their ADP.

-----------------------------------

Round 6:

62. Lonzo Ball
63. Dwight Howard
67. Aaron Gordon
72. Dennis Smith Jr.

Looks like Round 6-ish is the rookie round for Yahoo GMs. Dwight Howard made no sense here, as the GM that picked him is not even going with a FT% punt whatsoever. Aaron Gordon was my pick. I honestly feel lucky getting him at 67, as he's been going as early as 48 in mocks I've been in.

-----------------------------------

Round 7:

73. Tim Hardaway Jr.
74. Willie Cauley-Stein
76. Jeremy Lin
79. Rajon Rondo
80. Isaiah Thomas
82. LaVine
84. Jabari Parker

Both THJr and WCS are beating their ADPs quite consistently by 2 rounds or so. Jeremy Lin went earlier than expected as well. I think the injury news on Rondo came out on the same day we drafted. Not sure why he went this early.

Hospital picks to round out the 7th round with IT, LaVine, and Jabari Parker. I wonder why they all went at nearly the same time? I'm gonna assume that when IT was picked, it also reminded everyone about the other injured players.. Either that, or they felt since IT just went, it's okay to nab the other injured guys. Anyway, interestingly enough, even with IR slots, IT still slipped to 80.

-----------------------------------

Round 8:

85. Rodney Hood
86. Brandon Ingram
87. Evan Fournier
88. Dwyane Wade
89. Jamal Murray
90. Nerlens Noel
91. George Hill
92. Patrick Beverley
93. Nic Batum
94. Marcus Smart
95. Markelle Fultz
96. Buddy Hield

I thought this entire round was interesting. Hood is getting a lot of noise recently. Ingram climbing up the ranks from fake-upside hype. Fournier attracting GMs with his points. No idea on Wade, I guess for name attraction. Jamal Murray surprisingly went late, as I see him going at 65 at times in mocks. Nerlens Noel was suppose to be my pick, but I was sniped 1 pick before me.. I was actually thinking of getting him 1 round earlier, but judging from how the draft was going, I got greedy thinking he'll still be around at 90. Instead, got George Hill on my pick. Batum at 93 seems fair with his 1-2 month injury.

-----------------------------------

Round 9:

97. Josh Jackson
98. KCP
99. Steven Adams
100. Derrick Favors
101. James Johnson
102. TJ Warren
103. Dario Saric
104. Taurean Prince
106. Willy Hernangomez
108. Kent Bazemore

So by this time, I was so torn. I picked TJ Warren here, but I was targeting James Johnson. I had let some of these guys fall too much, and I became very greedy towards the late rounds because of how the earlier rounds went. Taurean Prince was surprisingly picked up in this round too, so that frustrated me even more. I really liked the Favors/Bazemore picks here. Dario Saric seems to maintain his followers from last season. Willy dropping quite a bit ever since the Melo trade.

-----------------------------------

Round 10

113. Markieff Morris
115. Nikola Mirotic
118. Josh Richardson

I was contemplating Markieff Morris, but he was picked 2 picks before me. So went with Mirotic. I'm half surprised at the Richardson pick, as I see him go undrafted sometimes.

-----------------------------------

Round 11:

121. Marquese Chriss
123. JaMychal Green
126. Joe Ingles
131. Thaddeus Young
132. Norman Powell

Despite industry praise on Chriss, he's still being picked in the late rounds. I don't see his stock rising. Dan's favorite, sitting at a normal 131 pick. Ingles was my pick. JaMychal was my next round target. Norman Powell went undrafted many times in mocks, but found at 132 here.

-----------------------------------

Round 12/Round 13

Nothing too abnormal happened here. RHJ, Ilyasova, Jaylen Brown, Parsons to name some notables. Skal Labissiere was the last pick of the draft, great pick there.

----------------------------------

My team - Didn't want to punt assists, but it started to go that way. I tried to recover with George Hill as he was dropping into the 9th round, but ultimately just settled with it. Hopefully I can trade George Hill for Taurean Prince before the season starts.

1. KAT
2. PG13
3. Millsap
4. Horford
5. Gary Harris
6. Aaron Gordon
7. Malcolm Brogdon
8. George Hill
9. TJ Warren
10. Mirotic
11. Joe Ingles
12. Tyler Johnson
13. Richaun Holmes (Drafted, but put into IR slot. Picked up Kelly Olynyk)

TL;DR Overall:

- $100 Yahoo league, drafts are still going classic ADP-style, with a few surprise picks.

- Interesting trade offers right after the draft - Both Gary Harris and Aaron Gordon were wanted by 2 GMs, but their offers were unsurprisingly lacking.

- Seems like no one cares about Nerlens Noel. Could possibly wait on him for a round or two after his ADP.

- Taurean Prince is somewhat on the radar, even if the draft seems to go normally.

- Embiid went at 32 and Isaiah Thomas went at 80 with 2 IR slots available.

- Popcorn number guys or big names still go near their ADP or earlier. That means Carmelo, Schroder, D. Booker, Wiggins, Dwyane Wade, etc.

- If you want Dennis Smith Jr, you'll probably need to spend a 6th-7th round pick on him.

- Pick 8-10 are interesting. You could potentially get Kawhi and CP3/Jokic for your first 2 picks.

- Russell Westbrook is almost always going in top 5. So if you're pick 5-6 in a draft, you'll still likely get a good 9-cat player.

Great thread -- I think it's safe to say, based on all results we're seeing, Gary Harris is not slipping past 60 in almost ANY drafts.

I agree, great thread. I haven't graduated to $100 Yahoo leagues, but have seen a few surprises in my $20 Yahoo leagues. For instance, I got Prince with the last pick and yes CP3 is falling. I think people are scared this is the year of another injury or the bottom falling out somehow. Then again, I thought Jokic would be top 5 with all the hype and in my last $20 league, he fell to mid 2nd (right after CP3).

I was like wtf.

Nice write-up mate! I've had two drafts so far, both were auction drafts and 1 of those a Keeper League.

So far people are spending a crazy amount of money on certain players.............$34 on Booker??

Anyway, I have my $200 16 Team 9-Cat on Saturday night. I've got pick 4. So looking forward to it, fingers crossed my hours on listening to Dan and Aaron in the car too and from work will pay off 🙂

Gary Harris is definitely not gonna go pass pick 70, even in mocks I've done today, he's been going at the same range of 50-60 every time. Jokic is still falling quite a bit in some leagues, could possibly go mid/late 2nd round. Recent mocks has him still going pick 10-18 in most of them.

Peekay, I would nominate all the super hyped guys every time haha. Starting with someone like Devin Booker, then Schroder, Wiggins, DSJ, etc. Great way to get some overpriced players off the board ^__^

This thread is really really good and helpful. First look I thought lil works for HOOP BALL org! Harris slipped to mine 61th pick , I guess this is the return for letting Curry slipped away at my 5th pick.

I'm surprised at the reception! Thank you guys for the kind words.

@charliefantasy Okay, I need to learn how to punt better. It seems Hoop Ballers are quite good at punting. Your team is 3x better. That's two Hoop Ballers who tremendously outclass my team in punt-AST builds, and strangely, they both include Marquese Chriss! Maybe that's the MVP-GOAT player that I need on my team haha. I try my best not to punt, and if I start seeing a deficiency in a category, I kinda panick and try to recover, like I did with the George Hill pickup which really didn't help me much.

I know both Aaron and Dan are not punting guy. But after listening their few podcasts, they will choose to do punt based on what players they have. For example, when Aaron picked Harden at 7th, he knows he will have to punt TO or even FG to strengthen other categories. For Dan, if he picked BPA thru first to three or four rounds and found out his team is lacking of AST, he will just choose to punt AST. Keep in mind that not punting guy doesn't mean they don't punt.

Hill is not known for his passing ability but more of scoring 3s stl low TO,so I guess you can treat Hill more like a SG than a PG. but his injury history and development of the Kings put him after 100 spot. I am not buying into him this season.

Correct, Charlie.

Still, I should clarify. If my team looks super weak in a category, I'm not going to AVOID that category, I'm just aware that I'm probably not going to be near the top of the heap. That's for roto.

For h2h I might actually punt it part way.

For instance, last year I ended up giving up on points in January (I was 2nd to last), and basically just cashed in all my scorers. In that way, I gave up 1 point (since I fell into last place) in order to try to get 2-4 points in other categories where I was closer to making headway.

It's all about ROI.

Totally agree with you Dan. Roto and H2H are different thing. My league somehow always play in h2h format.
