H2H points league that favors steals, blocks, and rebounds. FT% is heavily penalized.

Have three spots at the end of my roster that have Justise Winslow, Thomas Bryant, & Derrick White. Currently I also have Bagley and Mirotic in my IR. As they are nearing a return (Bagley is already back) I am trying to determine who has the least value ROS.

Is it as easy as saying White is the guy to hold as he has no one to compete with ROS for his spot/minutes/usage?? Thanks a bunch for the feedback!!

By "FT% is heavily penalized" do you mean that FT% is worth a lot less than in a standard format, or that guys with a bad FT% are penalized even more for it than they would be in a standard format? If it's the latter, then I'm not sure that it would be worth dropping any of those guys to make room for Bagley, who's a FT sink. Mirotic obviously you do need to make room for, and Winslow would probably be the guy to drop for him both because of his bad FT% and the too-many-mouths-to-feed situation in Miami (he has been churning out the defensive stats, though, much more so than Bryant, so that might offset the FT problem somewhat).

Hmmm. Okay maybe I wasn't as clear as I could have been. It's a point league so FT% isn't the biggest category to worry about by any stretch. An attempted free throw in this ESPN league gets you -1 points, while a make gets you +1 points. An attempted field goal in this league gets you -.5 points while a field goal make gets you +1 points. Bagley was averaging about 30 fantasy points per game right before he went down. As a comparison my top player Paul George is averaging 40 fantasy points on the season while Jrue Holiday is averaging 34 and Oladipo 31. I guess my question pertains more towards Bryant vs White. Do we think Bryant is a lock for top 50 value until Markieff and/or Dwight return? Is it worth gambling on Bryants upside ROS instead of White? I am excited about White however because the offense flows through DeMar I'm not THAT excited. Currently, sitting in 1st place in my conference only up by one game so I don't have a lot of room for error these days. Also the other conference has two loaded teams (think Cousins, Siakam, Montrez, Booker, Embiid, Jokic, Steph). Yes, I know its crazy but the league is semi shallow as we only have 13 total players on our roster and it is a 12 team league. There's about 3 scrubs who have no idea what the hell they are doing but the rest of the league is pretty solid. Sorry for the lengthy note haha hope this clears up my question.

Thanks, that helps! How many fantasy points per game has Bryant been averaging in that format? His good FT% (for a big man) isn't worth much in that format and he's not a big defensive-stat guy either, so I wonder if he's a lot less valuable here than he is in category formats. White has been delivering pretty good defensive numbers so even if his scoring comes back to earth a bit the steals and blocks could still prop up his value.

In the past two weeks Bryant is averaging 25 fantasy points in this format while White is averaging 26. I also forgot to mention there is a slight bonus of +2 points for double doubles hence how Bagley was able to reach such high value (he’s basically points and boards). As a comparison Mirotic is super valuable. At the beginning he was averaging like 34 fantasy points in this format if I remember correctly.

I think I'd lean Bryant over White since Derrick's value lately has come largely in his 80% FIELD GOAL (I know, crazy high) ... and that can't stay as high as it is.

Hey Dan thanks for chiming in. Are you not worried about the other forwards/centers eventually coming back for the Wizards and stealing Bryant's shine? Side note I've been listening to you faithfully for the past 2 years and I know you and everyone at Hoop-Ball work super hard. Just want to say keep up the good work and being a small business owner myself you definitely got me to grab a premium membership to support! Good content is worth every penny, thanks again.

Markieff out for 6 more weeks and Dwight is likely done this season lol

I feel like White is more valuable in standard league, but in your case it goes Bagley, Winslow, Bryant, White. I rank Winslow over Bagley in standard league but Bagley has higher FG% and DD most games.

I hear you. I am a DMV native and live just outside the DC border line. I would be much higher on Bryant but being a DC sports fan in any regard is brutal (minus hockey). This also holds true for the Wizards organization with years of mismanagement and horrendous ownership. We truly have no idea how they are going to treat the rest of the season. They might be dumb enough to fight for an 8th seed, rush Dwight and Markieff back, just to kill Bryant near the fantasy playoffs. These are my fears anyway but I could be bias haha.

I hear ya but that theory seems like a reach especially when Wall is out. But looking at the standings its possible lol, shows how competitive WC.
