So Tim Hardaway JR (SG,SF) and Gorgui Dieng (PF,C) are on the waivers in one of my leagues. I'm having a hard time deciding whether to pick 'em up with how my current roster looks. League settings are standard 9 cat, 12 team, H2H, YahooPro $50.
Here's my current roster:
Malcolm Brogdon (PG,SG)
Joe Ingles (SG,SF)
Paul George (SG,SF,PF)
Gary Harris (SG,SF)
Kelly Olynyk (PF,C)
Paul Millsap (PF,C)
Karl Anthony Towns (C)
Marquese Chriss (PF,C)
TJ Warren (SF)
Lauri Markkanen (PF)
George Hill (PG,SG)
Aaron Gordon (PF,C)
Al Horford (PF,C)
Richaun Holmes (PF,C) & Nikola Mirotic (SF,PF) on IR slots
Things to note: I have only 2 point guard eligible players. I'm sorta punting assists, but it's not too relevant with the topic.
Strong cats: FG%, 3s, STLs, REBs
Medium cats: FT%, PTs, BLKs, TOs
Weak cats: ASTs
My dilemmas and drop candidates:
Markkanen has proven to be useful, and both Mirotic/Portis still has a good amount of time before they return. With that said though, he seems the most worthy of dropping if I had to choose someone off my roster.
Hill - I feel really dumb not drafting a reliable point guard, and I'm forced to keep George Hill out of a combination of positional need and value (albeit he's been quite inconsistent to start)
Chriss was not one of my draft picks. I picked him up after an impatient owner dropped him earlier last week. However, I might consider him a very slight possible drop candidate here, but unlikely with how his outlook seems at the moment.
My thoughts on THJr and Dieng:
I'm sold on THJr, despite his horrific start to the season. His shots just aren't going in. He's still getting plenty of minutes, and he's gonna continue being a focal point to the Knicks' future. I don't see how he can fail this year.
Dieng on the other hand - Despite what Hoop Ball experts say, I'm not so sure about. After watching the Timberwolves play, the only way I see him getting any minutes is due to an injury. At that point, stashing Dieng would be like stashing any other back-up player in case someone gets injured (albeit Dieng has superior stash value). I understand in previous years that he had problems with his playing time as well, but this year, I feel it's gonna be a lot more difficult with Taj Gibson, a Thibs-favorite around.
What're your guys' thoughts? Should I add/drop? If so, which players? Should I add both THJr and Dieng? Should I just keep them on the waivers?
Thanks for your replies ^___^
Gorgui might take a few weeks, and I know personally I'm trying to hold him, but I had to drop in a league where I had 4 guys hurt and needed someone reliable. I only hope it doesn't burn me down the line.
THJ I'm definitely holding, just benching until the shots start to drop.
In terms of your team, I'm not sure I'd make a move. Markannen is probably the short term guy that could get shuffled, but right now he's playing better than THJ, so I suppose it comes down to your team needs.
