First of all I just want to say that this is a great podcast and I enjoy listening to it.
I just have one suggestion that i'd like to make/rant about lol.
The mentioning of the guest's name and twitter handle is absolute overkill.
The guest first comes on, you introduce his name and twitter handle.
Then in the middle of a conversation you sometimes kill the flow and say "talking again to so and so you can find him at so and so" or "oh by the way, we're talking to so and so you can find him on so and so"... yes I heard you the first time.
Then at the end of the dicsussion you say the guest's twitter handle again, then the guest leaves. Then you talk solo and make the mention of the twitter handle for the 4th time.
I understand that you want to show appeciation to the guest for coming on but one mention of the name/twitter handle is sufficient. You are also doing the guest a favour by letting him promote himself. But I'm pretty sure that most people are not stupid and they can figure out where to find someone on twitter.... especially since you tweet the guy's twitter handle, the twitter handle is in the description of the podcast and it's mentioned in the show.
I just find it way too forced and if i truly want to follow someone on twitter then I know how to do it.
I’m sure that part of the reason it’s being done is if someone tunes into the pod and one point and has missed it earlier, as well as giving respect to the guest.
Hey man - I appreciate any and all feedback and no hurt feelings or anything.
The reasoning behind that stems from a career in radio. You always repeat info about a guest, and it also makes them feel more appreciated and want to return to the show again. I admit, I could go beginning and end, and usually I do dial it back when someone is on the show a bunch of times, but for a first-time guest, it's largely about making them feel comfortable and appreciated.
When I guest on other shows, I truly wish every time they'd give my Twitter handle more than once. It's very easy to miss when someone says it one time, and most people are not as diligent as you are (with respect to finding someone if they want to find someone). Most need to be told a few times before they'll do something. It's part of why advertisers run their spots over and over again. Once just doesn't work for the average fella/gal.
Hope that makes sense, and very happy to have such an engaging listener!
