I had a draft on Friday for a 10 team head to head league standard 9 cat. I had 6th pick and I choose Lebron over Embid, Jokic, Leonard and Lillard. The reason I did this is because I strongly believe Lebron is going to have a breakout season.
I had another draft yesterday for a 12 team league head to head, standard 9 cat. I had 10th pick, guess who is available Lebron..... I really did not pick him again because I have him in my other league and if something were to happen I'd be screwed. The only other players that were available at that time that would make sense for a first round pick were kyrie and beal. So I was pretty much forced to pick Lebron.
Did I screw up?
I think LeBron will have a breakout season too. He will have to. The biggest downside it his FT%. If you ended up with other strong FT shooters then you should be fine.
Ya I got westbrook in second round, as well as drummond in third. So I am punting turnovers and FT percentage.
For my 10 team league ^^
I'd say there is a "decent" chance you regret picking him at 6, while almost none picking him 10th.
The punt move rescues this situation ... otherwise he has no chance of being 6th overall. Not with that high-volume FT issue.
He won't finish the season ranked 6th but at some level you have to trust your gut. Your punt strategy makes sense and your core reflects it but you are really bad at 3s with your top players so that's almost a punt as well. Punting 2 or 3 categories makes it super tough to win 5 a week because of variance.
Lebron hits 2 3’s a game and westbrook is at 1.6 per game
I wouldn't call it a "breakout season", since he broke out 16 years ago, but I get what you mean haha. I wouldn't sweat this pick, you're getting the best basketball player in the league. It'd be LeBron or Jokic for me and I'm fine with either one. Drummond in the third was a great value and you basically got rid of ft% from this equation with those two and Westy (that's if he doesn't get back to normal) anyway.
