Ahoii,

Here is my team for the classic 12 team, 9-cat. Got the dreaded 11th pick but I think I managed to do ok? Feel like I got good value with my picks but maybe a bit low in blocks and boards?

1. (11) Kawhi Leonard SG,SF
2. (14) Jimmy Butler SG,SF
3. (35) Mike Conley PG
4. (38) John Collins PF,C
5. (59) Eric Bledsoe PG,SG
6. (62) Al Horford PF,C
7. (83) Joe Ingles SG,SF
8. (86) Jarrett Allen PF,C
9. (107) Delon Wright PG,SG
10. (110) Dwight Powell PF,C
11. (131) Joe Harris SG,SF
12. (134) Kevon Looney PF,C
13. (155) Goran Dragic PG,SG

Notable free agents: David Bertans, Reggie Jackson, Tim Hardaway Jr, Zubac, Norman Powell, Cedi Osman, Marvin Williams

Anyone to consider from that bunch or to stay pat for now?

Hey, Santino. Would like to hear your feedback. First year I feel so bad about my team, because I started with the 15th pick and first two guys were potential punt guys but I ended about without strategy to punt on anything.

16 team, 9cat, H2H league:

(15) A. Drummond
(18) T. Young
(47) C. Paul
(50) M. Conley
(79) J. Isaac
(82) Miles Bridges
(111) J. McGee
(114) D. Powell
(143) M. Kleber
(146) C. Osman
(175) D. Bacon
(178) M. Monk
(207) M. Thybulle

On waiver: R. Holmes, I. Thomas, A. Simons

Really would like to grab that Holmes but dont know who to drop

Giannis is certainly well-rounded haha. I don't think you had to adjust too much getting the reigning MVP at 4. It's hard to pass on Klaw at 17. The potential for rest days is a concern, but at that point, his talent wins out. Bledsoe was a reach and taken in the top 25 really hurt. He's currently hurt and in a 10 man league, there is a real chance you could get him in the 7th round. Mitch and Giannis give you a leg up in blocks on everyone. Your fg% is going to be awesome and defensive numbers look strong as well. Surrounding Mitch and Giannis are capable shooters and supplemental scorers, helping in those areas as well. I think ft% and assists are your weak spots. Rebounds and turnovers are average and can go either way. And rebounds and treys would be my first cats to target and improve on. You could put yourself in a fantastic position. If Klaw can creep near 70 games this team will make the playoffs with two of the best 3 players in the NBA.

Yeah, you were in a tough spot at 14, and the Klay thing is a real bummer man. That takes out a potential impact player from your team. You have strong guards and steals are going to be your best cat. The jury is still out on Rozier being good at basketball, but 71 is a good value for a guy who will get a lot of opportunities. That's half of the equation in fantasy. You have Mitch leading the way in blocks which should keep them good. Your ft% and rebounds are going to be weak, along with fg%. You have some three-point shooting, but it's more middle of the pack. There's gotta be better options than Marvin Wiliams in FA with his expected bench role, and you can take another flier after putting Klay on IL. I didn't like any of the players you mentioned except IT, but you'll have Klay in the IL spot and you'll need all the roster spots you can. If it's a daily league with a good amount of weekly pickups, you can even stream every day with one, and maybe a good looking weekly streamer with the other. Jones and Zubac are a bit boring as well. I kind of agree with you in that I don't totally hate it, but I don't like it either. There's just not enough here that I'd be comfortable rolling into the season with and I think you'll struggle. You have some nice players, but there's not much that sticks out in terms of cats and whatnot. The waiver wire and some trades are going to be crucial for you this year. You can always message me if you want my advice on players.

At first glance, I was going to say I only see a few players. Then I was going to say where are your first picks. Ha. But now I see them hiding in the back. Beal has been going in the back end of the first round and to get him that late (I assume you had a top 4/5 pick) is a fantastic value. that's a pairing you don't see every day getting two first-rounders. Your team is loaded. Your first 8 picks were very good (yes I know 10 man league) but still good value for a few that had to fall. I like the FVV pick, he's looking better and better each passing day and whether he starts at the two or not, he's going to play both Guard positions a lot. I'm curious where you took WCS and Klay? If you took them as starters I'd say I'd want them back, but you still ended up strong all around anyway. Thybulle looks great but he'll need to play enough to be worth a spot in a shallow league and that team has the depth to hold him back. Your defensive numbers are awesome and are going to get you a ton of points. Maybe a Culver and Clarke are there to pick up, or a Terrence Ross.

Hey Santino! This is my last team for the year. Just a 10-team league(9CAT) with my past co-workers.

Here is my roster(5th pick):
5. James Harden
- I can’t believe he went this low, got super hyped when I saw the top 2 picks were Curry and Giannis.

16. Trae Young
- A no-brainer to ultra boost my assists once Jrue was taken.

25. Devin Booker
- Was supposed to be Vucevic but got sniped and then I noticed that DBook was still available, took him in a hurry.

36. Clint Capela
- It was either him or JJJ but I went with the safe and proven route to get some REBs and BLKs.

45. Otto Porter
- Because Bam was taken 43rd and wanted to boost my steals so that I won’t have to search for it at the end of the draft.

56. Thomas Bryant
- My go-to 5th round center(in this case, 6th). Like him this year and like what I saw from the preseason, could use his BLKs though if it shows up on the reg season.

65. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
- I love me some SGA and wanted some efficient scoring to go along with my team. Excited for him post-ASB.

76. Wendell Carter Jr.
- Was the pick I took the most time with. Could’ve gotten either him, Bagley, or Sabonis. Ultimately went with WCJ for his upside. Hopefully he stays healthy.

85. Lonzo Ball
- At this point of the draft, I was amazed with the names I could see since this is my first time doing a smaller league(always have been a 12T or 14T). Been getting him at 60s and I see this as a huge bargain if he stays healthy with the pace that they are playing at. Big help with my 3s, ASTs, Stocks.

96. Gordon Hayward
- Ultra boring move but somebody sniped me with Zach Collins. Love Hayward though this season. Thinking it would be a bounce-back year for him and at this point of the draft, I’m just hunting for players who’s gonna exceed their ADP.

105. Delon Wright
- After a hum-hum preseason for him, people have been staying away. I’m actually one of those but I had to decide whether it was him or White(who I believe isn’t in a better situation than Wright). I still believe in him and I think he’s gonna get comfortable soon once his hamstring is all good.

116. Javale Mcgee
- Was happy to get him. Even with low minutes, he produces. Big plus to my BLKs and FG% in case I still want to compete in it.

125. Kevon Looney
- Supposed to be my 116th but Javale was available. Glad no one took Looney, got big hopes for him this season I think he can be a top-100 player this season. Looking for the boost on my stocks with solid rebounding and good FG%.

Overall:
- I think it was a good team and I was happy with it. A good balanced team with higher upside than their draft-picked position. Looking to do some 2 for 1s soon to get some guys on the WW cause it is looking good. Looking at Thybulle, Bertans, Len, etc.

That’s the team, Santino. Hoped you liked the breakdown. And I also hope you’re not having a breakdown, man there’s a lot of posts in here. We owe you a lot, man! Thanks so much and have a great day ahead!

I appreciate the cross-sport reference there! Touche. Haha, "I love it when a plan comes together!" 13 team. No! Someone has an unwanted bye week every week. Also, I'd leave all those guys on the waivers. Haha yeah man I love those top four, but knowing it's an auction draft I wonder how much you spent for them all, because those middle rounds are dormant. It's not ideal to have Harris and bridges as your 5th and 6th best players, but I can see you know this already lol. With not much in the way of depth, the risky nature of AD, Klaw and Paul's injuries and load management the past few years takes center stage. If one of them were to go down, you'd be in trouble. You have some solid players in the back end, but overall they are being asked to play above their pay level. Like when the Mavs signed Harrison Barnes to a max deal and instead of being a glue guy and the fourth option he was tasked with being the number 1. Or the Mavs signing Parsons to a max a few years earlier (sorry Mavs fans, nothing personal). Or Solomon Hill, Alan Crabbe, etc, etc. There's enough to write a book, but the similar thing is they were all tasked with playing above their heads and I'm afraid that's how your auction draft went. Your team can certainly bang threes and make their free throws. Those could even lead the league. The depth really hurts everything else though, and you didn't get any cheap steals there. I think next auction you're going to sit back and get less trigger happy because now you know how fast the well can dry up if you're not too careful.

I'm assuming you made a few trades here? Looks like you traded your first two picks for a lot of picks in the 3-6 range. While you don't have that stud, this is a DEEP team. You are loaded all-around the roster. High scoring team, that gets triples, steals, blocks and boards. You really don't have many weaknesses and are going to be a tough team to beat on a weekly basis. This is about as good as it gets with a "no star" team.

Dang, that's rough to post again as this is a really detailed post. Sorry to hear that! I'm glad you liked the response enough to come back haha, thank you! The rough setback with Durant and yeah it's going to be a big blow having a guy who's in all likelihood out for the year repping you in the first round. Turner is a letdown in the first, but he's roughly a top-30 guy who'd have helped you out this year and been good trade bait. I'd assume you were might have just dropped him next year at that price tag anyway.

Your bigs are exciting and the block potential for this team, oh my! Your late-round keepers are nice with Isaac and J Rich in the double digits and Dinwiddie and Wright basically free. It's hard to judge your picks since there are already 128 players being kept and you can see the well dried up fast. Clarke is a great one tho in a dynasty. He looks like an immediate contributor, and not one who's just "fantasy good." You took a few shots after that with Smith and Fultz. I've hopped on the Fultz band late in drafts, and at that point in a draft, you have nothing to lose. this is the deepest league I've seen so far and I love every second of it! Sure, as you mentioned, the draft must have been brutal. You get all excited to start it and then your third pick was DSJ. But that makes you invested in everything about the season, not just the big names.

As for your team, you'll likely win turnovers every week with a lot of non-ball dominant guys. Blocks and boards are going to be great, and steals will be fairly strong as well. Let's hope fg% can stay up there too. Without KD, your points aren't going to be there and you don't have much in the way of assists. Your bigs are going to knock you down in ft% since they aren't good from the line. You have some potential in threes but nothing to feel super confident in. It's such a deep league that the waiver wire is going to determine a lot of matchups and who finishes were throughout the season. Durant coming back into the focus next year is going to change the teams dynamic and you'll jump back up in treys, ft% and points. And you at least get another fantastic keeper in Clarke at a 4th round price tag. I think it's only inevitable you take a step back since your best player is gone, but those late-round keepers put you in a playoff-hopeful territory with an eye towards getting back in the upper echelon next year. Even though it's not your year you've shown a knack for finding gems in the draft or free agency to get yourslef back on top soon enough.

Load management. On talent alone, absolutely, but it's hard to trust starting a team with both Leonard and Embiid. Embiid just can't handle a full season, and it remains to be seen in Leonard want to do that again either after how successful last season was and the depth the Clips have to manage his games. For two teams who are among the favorites to win the ship this year, it's especially concerning during the fantasy playoffs.

Anyway, Bam looks great at the end of the 5th he fits right in with the rest of the top five. Isaac helps out with the already strong defensive numbers that you have, and Hayward is a solid all-around contributor. Bridges hopefully can take a step forward this year and he'll certainly have the opportunity to do so. White was a nice pick that late but is being tasked to be your second best guard which isn't ideal. You look strong in points, steals, blocks with lower turnover. You have a solid amount of assists from non-guard sources and good %s.

You have a well-balanced team capable of competing across the board, but the load management looks like it'll ultimately be your downfall. It's just too risky to start a team with the two likeliest players to miss games this year.
