Noel has hit the wire in my league, and presents another block upside option.
It's minutes playing badly vs no minutes but playing pretty well.
Which presents the better option, Chriss or Noel?
My thoughts:Noel has to be freed up for minutes at some point as Dallas has no depth really at center. Chriss has a lot of things to overcome including poor play, new coach trying to figure things out, incoming Greg Monroe (who may not directly eat up his minutes, but there may be a ripple effect).
This is a tough one. I lean Noel, but they're both disasters right now and are basically non-injury stashes.
Noel over Chriss or Noel over smart?
Smart over Noel over Chriss
Hey Dan, Noel vs. Richaun Holmes. Who do you take ROS?
I go Holmes. Noel looks like he might not even be healthy. Dallas is up to some weird stuff...
Even though he hasn't provided much to write home about, I'm staying the course with Chriss. He's got way more upside in my mind. We all know he's been garbage so far, but in only 19:49 minute-per-game average, he's still producing .9 triples, .7 steals and 1.0 blocks. With more minutes, he crosses into the coveted 1/1/1 threshold.
Even if Monroe stays in Phoenix and is given decent minutes, he still shouldn't Impact Chriss. Eventually the Suns will go into tank mode and Chriss' role should continue to grow. He's still starting, which is a bonus bc if he gets hot on a given night, he'll get more minutes. I don't see Monroe as someone to worry about. They say they want to trade him or maybe even buy him out. And even if he someone stays, they don't have a real reason to play him...at least as the season progresses, you would see any potential role of his shrink.
He hasn't made it easy, but I'd recommend staying the course with Chriss if you've already made it this far.
I do agree that Nöél is probably the best candidate to start for Dallas and get the majority of the center minutes, but it's just not happening. He's trending down and being dropped a lot (albeit Chriss is too), but you can probably keel an eye on him from the wire and if things change, decide then. On the other hand, I have a feeling (not that I'm anyone of note) and based off his last game that we're finally about to start seeing Chriss trend up.
As for Nerlens, Christmas ain't coming early!
