After always auctioning, i have been thrown an invite to a mates Snake draft.
Had a crack at a mock draft today (9-cat, H2H, 12 tm snake) and landed on the following team. Yahoo says it's a top team (for what that's worth) but, thoughts on this sort of squad for a H2H league please?

1 (6th): Steph Curry
2 (19th): Chris Paul
3 (30th): Clint Capela
4 (43rd): Myles Turner
5 (54th): Robert Covington
6 (67th): Nikola Mirotic
7 (78th) Darren Collison
8 (91st) JJ Redick
9 (102nd): Thad Young
10 (115th): Willy Cauley Stein
11 (126th): Trevor Ariza
12 (139th): Willy Hernangomez
13 (150th): Marvin Williams

Any thoughts or advice on picks i went too early on appreciated, have mostly a value understanding but not a good feel for how far guys will drop yet. 3 days to get up to speed before the new league drafts.

Cheers,
VT

Hey VT,

I, for one, like this team a lot. This is a balanced, sensibly drafted team though depending on your competition it may be TOO balanced for head-to-head. The only thing I'd nitpick is Redick at 91 but I'm simply not a fan of his fantasy value this season despite his ridiculous performance last night. As has been discussed on seemingly every forum and every fantasy podcast the 2nd round is particularly rough this year. CP3 could be a steal at 19 but he could also play 38 games. Lots of question marks in that whole round so we're all just going to hold our nose and pic, essentially. I think you've assembled a well-rounded team. I really like the Willy Hernangomez and Marvin Williams picks so late. With no Dwight Howard either or both of them could become fantasy contributors and it costs you nothing to test them out for a few weeks to start the season. I also like that their stats are "contradictory" so you have your bases covered depending on how the rest of your roster performs. You can choose which stat set provides the bigger benefit for your squad and swap the other. I think that was a smart play at the end of your draft.

Dang. You should do more mocks. I feel like you got all the guys you wanted in this one, and that never happens in real life. Haha

Aside from the DNP/injury risk from your two top guys, looks like a very solid team.

Not quite all, was looking for more OGGU's late. Even had Javal McGee in the que for a while.

Yep, agree with the injury issues up top. At 6 the options were curry, durant and joker... cp3 at 19 was just too hard to pass up.

For H2H should you pivot more agressively toward 4-5 cats, or would a balanced roto-esqu team like this perform OK?

For h2h it depends on how the team that you face each week is built. You can set yourself up for a 5-4 win but then face a team that’s much better or has a much better week on one cat and you loose 6-3. Also depends on whether your league tallies up just wins or whether they total all your cat wins for a season ranking total?

I’ve found 5-4 works around playoff time but you have to try win as many cats as possible until playoffs then trade/build from FA with a team that can win 5-4 based on your matchups.
