I watch games when I can, but yesterday was the first Suns game I've seen this season.
I've been a go-down-with-the-ship kind of owner of Marquesse Chriss so far, but last night has me reconsidering. I know he's dynamic and can produce across the board, but actually seeing him play last night has me in serious doubt.
He looked unenthusiastic. He showed almost zero energy (apart from ONE burst dunk drive to the basket). He looked lazy and just standing in place, walking around, not cutting to the basket. He committed dumb fouls (which we all know he does). And honestly, he looked kind of dumb...like he had this blank look on his face like he had no idea what he was supposed to be doing. He seemed to be very pouty too.
For anyone who's watched a few Suns games, is that how he normally looks/plays? Or was this an exception?
He's got fantasy appeal, but with that complete lack of energy or effort, guys who showed energy and who looked like they actually WANTED TO BE IN THE NBA, like Josh Jackson and Dragan Bender, I wouldn't be shocked if the Suns went to them more as the season progressed and less to Chriss, even as they aim to develop their youth. Chriss is young, but Why give minutes to a guy who isn't going to try?
I was holding Chriss for the anticipated gradual minutes/production increase as the season progresses, but maybe that's not as likely as I thought.
Thoughts?
Unfortunately you see that attitude from a lot of Suns players. The management has screwed the pooch with this team for too long.
I still think he's a hold, but that team truly stinks. Maybe Monroe will give 'em a little kick in the pants, but I doubt it. Sometimes just giving a bunch of young guys the keys to the car works out very poorly with a ton of bad habits and no real growth...
I'll hold for a bit...we'll see how tonight goes. He probably would have been an FA in my leagues if he hadn't given those 3 blocks toward the end. Shoot...maybe I should pick up Houston's Chinese guy...at least he wants to play! Watching him stuff Len twice in a row right under the basket was hilarious.
Hahaha, a lot of guys could make a nice career of stuffing Crappy Alex Len.
