I thought I was nicely set in a keeper league, only to now find out (wasn't made clear in advance) that FA pick ups will cost $5 next season, drafted players will rise $5 from last year's auction price, and there's a $100 limit. If anyone has any suggestions as to who you think is worth keeping or dropping, would love to hear:
Nailed on: Jokic $33 (rising from $28), Brogdon $5, Beverley $5, Holmes $5
Likely to keep: Melo $5, Gallo $5, T-Ross $5
Unsure: Willy HG $5, Cody Zeller $5, Taurean Prince $5
Not keeping / def can't afford: KAT $76, Kawhi $62, Dunn $5
(I would've kept Kawhi even at the higher price of $62, but can't as it would force me to drop too many of Brog / PBev / Holmes, Melo, Gallo, Ross)
Thanks in advance Hoobers!
I personally would keep KAT and Kawhi with Jokic. If you can do it....you wont need crazy players to fill in the rest of your team.
What you listed makes sense. I would vastly prefer Jokic at that price over KAT and Kawhi as well.
Depending on how deep the league is, I would also keep Willy, Zeller and Prince. Willy and Prince should provide really solid value for their price. Zeller will likely not match his production from last year with Dwight in town, but I think on talent alone he is worth a keep. We can hope that Clifford still gives him solid minutes as they are just plain better with him on the floor.
That sucks that you can't keep Jokic and KAT. That would have been a lethal combo in dynasty.
I reckon there's three approaches here:
1. Keep Jokic ($33) and Kawhi ($62) plus one more $5 player
2. Keep Jokic ($33) and all your $5 players (Brogdon, Beverley, Holmes, Melo, Gallo, T-Ross, Hernangomez, Zeller, Prince and Dunn)
3. Keep KAT ($76) and four $5 players
I'm not sure if there are any rules you have preventing you implementing #2, but in any case I think you should roll with the first or third option; especially if you play in a 9-cat league. It seems lot's of teams will be offloading a lot of value in your draft and I would try to avoid getting too comfortable with the roster you currently have.
I'm inclined to go with Option 1. The value of keeping Jokic is insane, and you should capitalize on that while keeping the best other players on your team. KAT is nice, but his heavy price tag might set you back too far. You've got some real nice young talent in the form of Big Willy, Prince and Brgodon, and those would be my first picks for those last spots on your roster.
I would probably keep Kawhi, Jokic and Willy Hernangomez. He can cover the lack of blocks Jokic picks up and you can maximize the great %s you should get from Kawhi and Jokic without getting someone like DeAndre or Capela to give you blocks while hurting your FT%. Target a quality point guard early in the draft to give you solid base for your team based on positioning. Good luck!
