So my league does a thing called a points system. We do a head to head points league with money going to 1-4 places, and then leave some extra cash for a thing we call the points system. The person that gets the most total points in a week gets 3 points for the system, second most gets 2 points, third most gets 1 point, person with least amount gets -3 points, second least -2, third least -1. SO then we wanted to make our league more interactive, so we increased the buy in fee slightly and put more money into the points system for who wins. We then incorporated a few things to make it more interesting, we have a rivalry week, where if you beat your rival you get 2 points, and if you lose you get -2. We also made it where if you own a player who wins the slam dunk contest or 3-point contest during all star weekend you gets 2 points for the system, so it makes all-star weekend more interesting.
So my big question is what other ways can we include things to give points for?
I've definitely had leagues discuss weekly buy-ins as a thing. We didn't get into the specifics of other stuff to use for these small side-bets. You could get really crazy and add a betting element. People can wager their 'points' on real life Vegas lines to try to add to their bucket? A ton of work for the commish but just the first wacko thing that popped into my head.
You can add points for double-doubles and trip-doubs while subtracting points for technical fouls and ejections.
You guys could also go nuts and include all stats from ASB in the weekly tally.
I do like this, it would make fantasy very very interactive with the actual NBA. AS the current LM I don't think I am ready to take on that load of running that business but I really do love the idea!
