I was just offered Klay and Jokic for my Wall and Butler. I'm thinking of accepting, as I'm afraid of Butler breaking down with all these minutes.
11 team 9 cat roto. Thoughts, please? Thanks as always!
I'm more of a H2H guy, but even in Roto, I'm pretty sure Wall/Butler is the winning side here by quite a bit. I wouldn't be too worried about Butler getting hurt, he's pretty rock solid in terms of staying healthy...same for Wall actually, barring this past injury.
I'd wait for Dan or someone who has more experience in Roto...but I don't think you should make this move.
I would take the Jokic and Klay side personally. Jokic > Butler (top 10 versus top 15), and Klay > Wall (similar level players in 9cat, but Wall with injury concerns and Klay hugely durable).
Here are some numbers.
Wall hadn't hit his stride yet even before going down, so expect his numbers to be closer to last year's:
# 20 last year / 45% FG / .80% FT on 6.8 attempts / 1.1 triples / 23ppg / 4 r / 10.7 ast / 2 st / .6 bl / 4.1 TO
Butler: #17 on the season FG: 46%, FT: 4.5/5.3 .85% 1.2 triples / 19.8pt / 5.6r / 4.9a / 1.8 st / 0.3 bl / 1.9 TO
-vs-
Jokic #12 on the season / 51% FG / 86% FT / 1.3 triples / 15.5 ppg / 10.6 r / 4.6 a / 1.4 st / 0.6 bl / 2.2 TO
Klay #18 on the season / 50.5% FG / 88 FT / 3.5 triples / 20.9 ppg / 4.2 r / 2.6 a / 0.7 st / 0.6 bl / 1.7 TO
I like the Wall/Butler side for a few reasons. The good FT% on volume attempts. Klay's FT is is not as valuable as it looks since he only shoots one per game. The scoring edge goes to Wall/Jimmy, while Jokic Klay have reb edge, while Klay/Jokic win the 3 point edge, but Wall/Jimmy offer a huge edge in assists. Assists are harder to add than rebounds. Big edge in steals goes to Wall/Jimmy. Blocks should be about the same for both sides. Lastly, Jokic/Klay win the TO battle.
In short, I like the Wall/Butler side for edge in volume FT, assists, points and steals. If you like the Klay/Jokic side, you're better in FG, rebounds, 3s and TOs.
thanks! Appreciate the time for you guys to respond! I'll hold tight and pray Butler stays healthy.
Great arguments on both sides. This is pretty fair, though in Roto late-season injuries are LESS of a pain than in H2H, so factor that in.
