is Kat plus Hield an overpay for Harden?

In a 16-teamer, yes just by a bit because the replacement player will be much, much worse. Those middle to low-end guys matter a lot more in deeper leagues.

It's about fair, but as Riaz notes you need to have your eye on a replacement level guy when you do it
