Hello,

While I've been playing fantasy football and baseball last threes, this is the first time I've actually joined a fantasy basketball league. Since, I don't know many ppl who particpate in fantasy basketball I'm trying to get a sense of what is the standard roster size (starters, bench, util, use of g/f/c positions) for a 12 team standard league. Would anyone be kind enough to share the standard most commonly used setup???

One of the things I love most about fantasy basketball is all of the different settings you can choose to build a league. I would say the most standard league is:

12-teams
13-Roster Spots (PG-SG-G-SF-PF-F-C-UTIL-UTIL-UTIL-Bench-Bench-Bench-IR Spot)
9 or 8 Categories (Points-3PT Made-Rebounds-Assists-Steals-Blocks-FG%-FT%-TOs)
H2H Scoring

But these can all change depending on the site you use (ESPN, Yahoo, Fantrax, etc.) There are also roto, and points leagues. Sites handle waivers differently too. For example, the Yahoo Pro leagues have daily-overnight waivers for each player you add. Where as other sites just have a free-for-all add/drop system. I personally love H2H Category leagues. But I know others prefer roto style because it is arguably more fair.

Thank DRod. Interesting, I thought the roster spots would be smaller. Mine is 12 team H2H categories (12 categories) and we have (PG-SG-SF-PF-C-G-F-UTIL-UTIL-UTIL- 5 bench and 2 IR).

Appreciate the input and hope some others can shed light as well.

Most of my league mates aren't enjoying the fantasy basketball so I thought it was due to the setup. Thanks again!

I like to simplify my teams... I go with 12 teams, generally, and 15 roster slots but minimal position issues.

I just do 3 G, 3 F, 2 C and 2 Util starters. No injured list since I hate how the websites decide when a guy is hurt. I'd rather just make the bench a little deeper.

I usually do roto too, though people just getting into it probably would prefer h2h.
