I would hate to go overboard on positional scarcity. But I'm leaning towards selecting Boogie with the eighth pick in a 10-team draft. Even worse, I'm tempted more than ever to reach for Porzingod at 13! (I know, additional usage really only means a few points, at maybe a worse FG%.)
Now, the context. This is a 10-team, 14-man, 2 centers, no bench keeper league. I already own Myles Turner as a keeper in the second half of the draft, and others' keepers include KAT, Alphabet, Joker, Gobert, PG-13, Whiteside, and Embiid (so they're off the board, moving everyone else higher than usual).
Or do I opt for the best PG available at 13, even if that is Lowry? Otherwise, man, three of the top centers giving me 3PTM, REB, and BLK ...
Or, do I have to take LeBron or CP3 at 8? Wall? Then I would grab Zinger at 13. Unless I should be giving more consideration to Draymond, maybe punt points and target Rubio at 33 ...
8 or 9-cat?
Whoops, 9-cat. I'm not planning on punting this year, but never care about TO.
At 10th and with Jokic kept, I'd still go BPA and then do my reaching in R2. Unless, it actually happens to be Boogie himself, then this is moot. Myles Turner at 13th may seem absurd at first glance, but if you take into account that you got a solid first-rounder, it's not so bad. There WILL be a center run, make no mistake about it. BPAs will balance itself out after teams secure their first C, you can then either swing back for good value in R3 or R4, OR secure your solid 2nd C like Gasol/Horford/BroLo.
Hard 'no' on Boogie in the 1st round in 9-cat. He's an early second rounder. At 8 you should still have SOMEONE from among the big names on the board. Jokic? AD? Harden? Russ?
Sorry, I know the keepers are a confusing variable. But Yahoo ADP looks like this for me at the moment:
1. Westbrook
2. Durant
3. Harden
4. Curry
5. Davis
6. Leonard
7. LeBron
8. Wall
9. Cousins
10. Paul
11. Irving
12. Lillard
13. Butler
14. Green
15. Walker
16. Porzingis
So, neither Cousins nor Porzingis is much of a reach for me. With that said, I am coming back around to LeBron or CP3 at 8, Porzingis at 13.
I would LOVE for Lillard to be available at 13 (and would go Cousins at 8, despite Bruski being down on him, ha). But he has already gone at the turn the past couple of seasons, and I don't expect Butler or Draymond to slip in there this time around.
I'm not really feeling Kemba or Lowry (who I've actually drafted the past couple of seasons), when I can pair two more BLK with Turner, plus the rest of the unicorn's upside.
To be clear, I own Turner at a later pick, not my second-round pick. But yeah, Gasol/BroLo would be firmly on my radar as a solid THIRD center.
