The last match-up is coming up in our points league and I'm in the final against the defending champ.
However, another team owner told me directly that he doesn't want me to win and sent a trade to the defending champ. He will give the other finalist KAT and Kemba for Myles, CP3 and Draymond. It has been accepted.
We have a veto system of team votes. 4/12 will veto a trade. However, he is trying to make the case that it is a fair trade and no collusion is involved.
I am the commissioner of this league, what do I do?
Why are trades still allowed? Standard procedure is that trade deadline is a couple weeks prior to the playoffs starting. A lot of that is for this very scenario. Eliminated teams making trades makes zero sense. Luckily in this scenario you can deny this trade based off it being heavily imbalanced (at least in my opinion). Step 2 is you implement a trade deadline either right now or for next season.
Seriously, Tama. Trade DEADLINE, man. Lock teams that aren't alive in the postseason. That's idiotic. There's just no reason why this should ever come up.
I have been slack in the Trade Deadline department because it never was an issue before. The league was relatively quiet and only a handful of trades ever went down in a full season (partly because of many first time fantasy owners and also due to the nature of points leagues).
After discussing with him further, I think he has seen the error in his ways and is asking for people to veto it. Crisis averted.
On a separate note, when are Trade Deadlines usually? Is it too early to have it align with the NBA Trade Deadline?
Are they less important in Roto leagues where teams are trying to finish higher on the rankings right until the last day?
