Hey Zach,
I love your work with the Dynasty top 150 and refer to it often as a guide for trades etc.
As you know Dynasty players are usually either trying to win now or they are in a rebuilding phase to win the the next 2 - 3 years.
Any chance of having a separate set of ranks for your guesstimate of what the ranks would look like for the players a couple of years out. For example i'm looking to pickup D'Angelo Russ via trade but you have rightly dropped him because of injury, a separate set of ranks would help me evaluate whether he is worth trading, say, Tobias Harris (or whomever) because you think he will be the better prospect in a couple of years.
Maybe just blend the 8cat/9cat so you only need to one composite set of ranks to make it a bit easier?
Anyway, just a thought. Once again love your work.
Cheers
Which Zach are you looking for? Perhaps I can send him a note to hop in here.
Thanks Dan - I think its Zach Bodhane that does the Dynasty top 150.
Hey Kajen,
Appreciate the kind words - glad you find it helpful! Also, thanks to Dan for tracking me down :).
I love the idea. The ranks do tend to side more towards the sustained contention or win-now mentality, so you're right to suggest that it is time show some love to the rebuilding squads. I'll dive into at least a top-50 list this week and talk with the kind overlords at Hoop Ball about the best way to integrate new content in that regard.
Feel free to reach out to me on twitter with specific questions as well in the interim. If the D'lo vs. Tobias question was more than hypothetical, I'm actually not as far apart on them for rebuilding teams as might be expected. 8 cat vs. 9 cat makes a big difference between those two, but I'd only give Russell a very slight edge over Harris over the next 3 or so years.
Also, Tobias has been pretty hot lately, so you may even be able to sell him off to a win-now team for D'lo and another player that is further out but has upside (Jonathan Isaac for example if the injuries are frustrating his owner, or a Sindarius Thornwell type asset). Problem with Tobais is that he doesn't get much hype, so even if he's playing at a top-40 level, the perception of him always seems to be of a top-75ish asset.
Fantastic, thanks Zach!
