To start off, I'm new to this site. I heard about hoop-ball through the ITL Podcast and the hosts were raving about Aaron Bruski and his resume. I figured since I frequent Rotowire on a daily basis and it was his articles I read, it was a no-brainer to join. I've bookmarked this site and shall frequent it as often. All admins, you're doing a stand-up job!

My dynasty league is entering it's third year (Wiggins' year). I would say out of the group, I am the least experienced (this is my first and only fantasy league). I would draft based on the numbers Yahoo setup. I knew nothing about sleepers, busts, punts etc. What I did know was my team was a mixed bag of players. I wasn't strong in any categories and ended second last, two years straight. Hoping that I don't end up in the basement again, I'm doing whatever it takes to get my team to playoff contention this year (and win) AND the following years. A few notes; we random draw for rookie drafting (which happened three weeks ago); the league draft was last night. Taking the advice from H-B with a grain of salt, this is my team.

PG: Ish Smith, PG
SG: Goran Dragic, PG/SG
G: Rodney Hood, SG/SF
SF: Klay Thompson, SG/SF
PF: Kristaps Porzingis, PF/C *
F: Draymond Green, SF/PF
C: Karl-Anthony Towns, C **
C: Hassan Whiteside, C
Utl: Nikola Jokic, C
Utl: Joel Embiid, C
BN: Trevor Ariza, SG/SF
BN: Marquese Chriss, PF
BN: Eric Gordon, SG
BN: J.J. Redick, SG
IL: Ben Simmons, SF/PF
*

* Porzingis: I traded a player for a draft pick in S1 and picked him up 3rd after Okafor
** KAT: no.1 draft pick from S2
Embiid: first year I picked him up for $1 and kept him on IR for 2 seasons (crossing fingers on a breakout season)
* Simmons: no.1. draft pick again (now on IR)

Before the draft my plan was to punt steals but also draft more 4 and 5 spots. I think I somehow ended up with a balanced team. I don't know why, now I have five centers, smh. Analysis from the pros?

Team looks alright to me. First thing I would do is bench Embiid and put Ariza into Utility spot. Towns, Jokic and Dray all provide out of position assists. Your FG% should be awesome and allows you to have ariza and Ish on court with no worries. You dont have much PG depth for the future if Ish doesnt pan out later in the season so its something you might need to think about for the future

Thanks for the response Brett. At the start of the draft, everybody pounced on the guards. I did the opposite and pounced on the bigs and luckily had enough to outbid on Dragic. After Dragic, everyone else who had no ball handlers started freaking out and drafted whatever slim pickings was left. I have enact for drafting players and then watching them get injured midway in the season. This time I'm touching wood my players stay healthy until the end! It's going to be a great season to watch!
