Eric,

Great read mate. Very interesting perspective and quite informative. Particularly like your discussion of draft strategies and which formats they are more suited to.

Can you clarify if guidance on auction values is included in the B150 release? If not will there be a separate discussion on this, or some relative player value/projection data included that we can use to inform $ value calcs?

Just trying to plan time to develop my value projection build up before draft day (which is close to the Oct 1 release date).

Hey Vegemite!

I’m glad you liked the article. I LOVE auction drafts. Regarding the Bruski 150 and auction values, I’ll have to ask the man himself.

Personally, my short-hand approach would use his rankings and apply appropriate $ valuations adjusted for market rates in the platform you’ll be using. The key is seeing a translatable $ line between, say, AD and Harden. From there, it will be easier to fill out your team. Think of it as placing players in $ buckets, like tiers. The lower the amount, the more players you will see falling into said tiers, or buckets. Only a couple are worth paying $75 for, while there’s a plethora of choices in the $3 bucket.

Yeah,

Got the concepts down. Bit of a numbers guy.... Rather than buckets, I like to have some solid numbers infront of me that reflect relative player values as a basis then adjust on the fly through draft. AD could be worth considerably more than harden if healthy. 10tm 13 player league could see AD crack 80.

And not afraid of long hand methods. Last season i ran with a self calculated BM style stastical value for each stat per player based on st.dev from the mean player then weighted those values based on cats to determine a player value. Player value then determined by player pool and $availability to estimate auction price points per player. It worked well, but the issue is its only as good as the underlying stat projections anyway.

Just trying to determine the best way to incorporate the B150 intel into my approach. Ie. AD 1, Harden 2 may not give the resolution on $ value gap i'd like.

I’ll have to get back to you regarding those specific $ you’re asking for.

Yeah, i'm interested to see auction $ as well.

It was a bit disappointing also to see that Yahoo had adjusted their projected value for auction drafts and now a lot of my targets are more expensive.
It's going to be a bit more challenging to steal someone.

Eric, do you have any advice about auction values in relation to dynasty leagues? I am doing dynasty for the first time and auction drafting for the first time as well. So I definitely need a bit of help lol

FYI, auction $ valuation will be part of the B150 as per Bruski! Yay!

Papervase, as far as dynasty auction valuations are concerned, impute a premium for age and potential.
