Neither will be on the IR for very long. Green has high floor, low ceiling... Monroe a little bit more upside, but playing time in Phoenix and potential buy out or trade later could significantly impact his value. It's really close for me!

Green. Monroe feels like a longshot to last all year. Might do some stuff if they showcase him, though, so I did pick him up. I'd rather have Green ROS.

I had this exact debate in my head at 5am NZT this morning when I had to drop Len. Went with Monroe for the upside, but JaMychal is the safer play

Poor old Greg Monroe. People talk about him like he's 37, not 27! Last time he got a decent go of it (15-16) he was 43rd per game in 9 cat, in 29 mins. For me, if Phoenix were willing to make this trade, they believe he's either valuable on the court (so good minutes, 26-28+), or has value to another team (so at least decent mins, 19-25). So for me, I think the upside here is slightly underestimated (look at Kanter banging out mid-round value on the Knicks), and the floor should be solid (top 100 per game last year in just 21 mins).

Again, he's only 27, stop trying to put the man out to pasture! (agree on the JMG assessments and I have him in a few places too)

I don't think anyone is putting him out to pasture. He's just a guy on a 17-million deal that has no place on a rebuilding Suns team. Yes, he's in his prime, but he's also a 7-year NBA vet who belongs on a better roster. So, I think we're just a tad worried that the Suns are trying to move him and not necessarily run his ass into the ground and kill his trade value. Haha

Surely they need to shopwindow him first, given he's hardly played this season?

I am definitely against consensus here though, Josh Lloyd is v negative on Moose after this (well, and before this), others too. I guess there was some wishful thinking at play, already had him in the IR in multiple leagues, and in most cases I'm lacking in bigs.

Looking at it another way tho, Bru had him at 80 in the B150 in 9cat. I assumed any trade would help, since he was stuck in a 3 center logjam. And now it happens and ppl are calling him scarcely rosterable. Just doesn't seem to add up.

Did we call him scarcely rosterable? I'm not being facetious, I honestly didn't see it.

On my pod I advised a speculative add with the caveat that he probably won't get to his 15/10 days from the past but that there's some weird 20% chance he does, and we want to be there if that comes through.

No I was referring to Josh Lloyd in that respect, but "longshot to last all year" isn't a hugely bullish assessment!

Ah.

I stand by my note. I don't think he maintains significant value all year, but a month or two of vintage Monroe is worth deploying. I just can't see PHX playing him big mins after the late Feb trade deadline.
