In a 12 team 9 cat,Snake Draft. Would you rather be picking top 3 in first round and then pick in the 20’s in the second round, or pick somewhere in the middle like pick 6,7 or 8 first round then be at pick 15,16 or 17 in second round. thank you experts!

With the way that the talent has spread out around the league I think it's most advantageous to be toward the end of the round. This way you get 2 top 12-15 ranked guys. I had the first pick in my 20 team league and it was brutal waiting for 40 picks until I got my second player!
Good luck!

For me, I think I’d prefer to dodge the middle of the first round. I’d love to get one of the top 4 picks, as those guys are in a league of their own, but if fortune doesn’t favor me (and it often doesn’t), I think I’d prefer to have pick 11 or 12 and grab two top 15 guys, like Coach said.

@coach @capt.caineghis , but you guys also said this a top 6 or 7 heavy draft and it falls off after that. Thoughts?

I don't think it's a 6 or 7 top heavy draft at all. This is a unique season because of all the player movement. It has created a lot of unknown. We don't know how it will all shake out and because of that it has flattened out the draft to some point. In my opinion you have Giannis, AD, KAT & Harden, which I believe are ranked just a "slight bit" higher than the rest, after that it's wide open to whatever you think is going to happen with all the player movement. Yes, it's awesome to get one of the top guys, however, the disparity of having to wait so long for your next pick isn't worth the overall value of getting 2 guys in the top 12-15. It makes for one of the most exciting NBA fantasy seasons ever!

I'm with Captain, I think. And once you get near a "corner" you might as well just be at the end of a round so you can have b2b picks. Gimme 1st pick as a 1st choice. 4th pick is probably my second choice.

Here's a rank

1st
4th
3rd
2nd
12th
6th...

everything else.

The ranking of best to worst spots is a forecast every competitor has to make. Every year this ranking changes based on the performance of the players overall. For example, you can think that this year, we have 4 players that will be ahead of everyone else: Harden, Giannis, Curry and Lebron. The 5th best player, whoever you think it is, lets say Davis, is put by you as in another category, not good enough to make the top 4 into a top 5. If you think so, then the 4th pick it is probably the best pick overall, since with the 4th pick you will get a guy from the best pool possible, and in the second round you will be drafting ahead of the 1st,2nd and 3rd.

As seen, it will change from player to player. Some people will forecast that George will be again a top pick, some will say Lebron wont be good enough, and that it is only the analysis for the first picks. Just make a draft yourself and then think "Would I rather have Harden and Kyrie or Davis and Jrue?".

I dont play much 9 cat, but for what i've read, harden was really far ahead as the n1 pick overall in the end of the season. Seeing this discrepancy, probably the 1st pick was the best overall last year.

FWIW, I just finished a 12-team, 8-cat Roto draft on NFBC and while it was a snake draft, both rounds 2 and 3 went from pick 12 to pick 1. So, instead of getting picks 1, 24 and 25, the team that picked 1st, got picks 1, 24 and 36. That tells me the NFBC thinks picking at the beginning of the draft is an advantage and they tried to minimize it a bit.

Yep, that's generally called "Third Round Reversal", so if you ever see someone type "3RR" that's what they mean. It's certainly a useful tool and I'd argue the bigger the league the more necessary it becomes.

Either a top-3 or a turn-pick (11th or 12th) for me. The most difficult are the middle ones (5 to 9).
