In a league where I have a healthy team (knock on wood) and one IR spot where I could currently pick up either Bagley or Mitch Rob and let them sit there indefinitely until either they're playing well or I have another injured guy, who do you think is the stronger stash?
I like Mitch Rob for insane blocks upside, but Bagley can provide a couple more categories with his double double potential. Then again, with Sacramento actually looking good and not tanking, letting Bjelica play more and not developing Bagley quite as much this season as we initially thought, maybe he doesn't crack the starting rotation this year after all.
Given Mitch Rob could be back as early as tomorrow and almost certainly this week then pit him in your lineup and Bags in your IR.
All things being equal Bagley is the better stash imo.
Thanks Kajen. I actually don't own either, they're both FAs currently. You're right, it seems both could return any day now, but one of my leagues allows me to pick up an injured guy and put them directly into IR without dropping anyone, so if I'm quick, I can still grab one of them and keep them on IR indefinitely as I wait for them to develop. Trying to decide which one might be better in a month or two, as I could throw them in that empty IR spot long-term if I act now. I think you're right, Bagley is probably better overall, but I'm such a blocks-chaser, I'm having trouble turning away from Mitch Rob.
I'd rather have the lottery ticket that is Mitch-Rob. Bagley has a relatively high-volume bad FT% that takes a lot of the shine off of whatever else he's going to offer. If I were punting FT% I'd maybe lean in his direction but otherwise I'd take my chances on the huge blocks guy.
Good thoughts all around. I think at this stage of the season you aim for whatever categories help more. We're sorta just past the 'best player rank' free agent and into 'team build' season.
